PI to MR made sense

Free My Mind

I've watched the video again, and I love it.

I think both PI and MR are primarily about the men in her life, but they also have secondary meanings about the industry. Gaga chose to use this secondary meaning in both videos.

In Perfect Illusion, it shows her at her peak, performing in front of loads of fans who seem to be captivated by her, she's on top of the world. However, it's soon realised that it is just an illusion and she is in a very lonely place in life. This is where the MR video picks up.

At this point, she feels like she just wants to lie there forever, she doesn't ever want to return to music. This is where this runs in with @bebe's theory. It seems like she's being scooped up by her people and being manufactured up to return, but it's revealed later that the people in the cars gave her the good reason to stay.

I'm excited to see where she takes the story next

Didn't she tell the exact same story with the ARTPOP/Venus portion of the G.U.Y. video, only with beautiful, surrealist imagery and a stunning setting?

I hate to say it, but I really think she's starting to run out of ideas/inspiration.

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

yeah, imo she is playing the "decay of an artist" very hard

yeh it seems similar,

but this time it's more explicit and raw. This era's not about imagery and metaphors for once.

The funny part is, I feel more connected and sympathetic towards fallen-bird Gaga in the G.U.Y video than I do with this 'authentic' Gaga in ripped jean shorts and a T-shirt.  Probably because during the last era she wasn't stifling her own creativity...

how do you know she's "stifling her own creativity"...

she just doesn't want to mask this stuff with metaphors... she wants to make a more authentic connection to her rather than her metaphors...

It was so beautiful. I honestly feel thee ARTPOP part of that video is the most beautiful art she has ever created. I actually cried when I watched it a while ago because I felt so deeply connected to the imagery. The overtly avant-garde, artistic nature of the video was a slap in the face to every money-starved businessman who thought he could take advantage of her. It was a real success for her as an artist fighting back.

Because it's just not creative. How many pop stars have done behind-the-scenes "look at the real me" music videos? It's been done to death.

Okay, decay of an artist yeah yeah but the three minutes prior she did spend kicking around dirt jumping around screaming 'IT WASN'T LAAAHV' so there's a whole other level that symbolises the heartbreak from her relationship

just because she's not being as creative, doesn't mean she's stifling it. saying that she's stifling it means that she wants to be creative but she's stopping herself.

River

If we consider that the GP is made from 90% of dumb people who have no clue about Gaga's metaphors and creativity.. GUY is not the video for them to explain her feelings..

And it's not a decay of an artist, it's a decay of a person.

PI - we are high of a certain success, if it's love, if it's a career, anything that makes us good but we don't see that it's actually eating another parts of our lives.. love/ourselves career/love and so on.

It's also representing the ARTPOP era when her team left her when she took the biggest risk of her career and they left her rolling down the hill alone and when she woke up, she just wanted to quit music.

MR - the new team proved her wrong, they are here for her, they are not using her or forcing her to do things that she doesn't want, they came back to take her because they care, they raised her from the ashes.. then it's the family, the closets thing for us, that at the end, they suppose to give us the strength to move on, to remind us that no matter what we are not alone.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Haroon

Please post threads like this inside the main thread about the music video :) Having threads on everyone's thoughts about the video when it's just dropped isn't a good idea because it'll just flood the subforum and forum itself :omg:
