But I don't think most of us are disappointed in the video because it lacks the outrageousness, grandness, and theatricality of previous videos (though im sure some fans are). The video just seems like a safe and shallow attempt at exposing her vulnerability. What did she really show us? She ran away to the desert, was on the ground and, subtly sad when her team dressed her up. The idea of it all was great but Gaga just revealed to us she has PTSD. There is a lot of suffering that she goes through and a lot of pain that goes on behind the scenes, alot more than what we were shown in the video. I wanted to get an accurate and real glimpse of all that and then see her team support her and watch her rise up. I wanted the see the extremes of the spectrum of her life and emotions. Im mean, the high after the low is represented by her singing in a studio with a white backdrop. I wanted her to run in a field with the wind at her back showing the world that she is back because her new team saved her. It felt so stifled. To me it didn't seem like we saw a deep enough raw cut of the pain she experiences in her life and enough contrast with the lows to the highs of her getting better. That's why im disappointed.

But maybe she isn't ready to show us all that. The video wasn't bad, it just could have been so much more interesting, engaging, and memorable. But, I honestly dont have a right to be upset with her for not meeting my expectations and for not creating a video that way better than the vision I had in my head.

Like you said, she doesn't owe us anything.

I totally agree with you here and understand wanting to see things portrayed differently and more deeply. Maybe she'll explore that with future Joanne videos?

But yeah I'm totally on board with respectful and reasonable critiques, I just felt really discouraged seeing the really caustic comments saying things like she "should be ashamed" or "she doesn't care anymore".

The era is nowhere near over so hopefully we'll see what else she has in store. I have a feeling this will all come together at the end.

Im hopeful as well. I know i will be a fan for the rest of my life no matter what. Im too invested in her to ever lose interest in her art and stop caring about her as a person.

The fans who are trashing the video and exaggerating like crazy are really being mean and unfair. A few people were saying her career will be over because of this video. Come on. The video is average. It isn't bad at all
