You could also argue that by playing devil's advocate you have excluded yourself from posting your actual opinion on this which many might be interested in knowing. 

I think some of the fun on forums like this is seeing different people's perspectives.

Does my opinion actually matter though?  If I say this is racist snd then leave so what? Nothing changes. 

If I say this isn't racism then I'm likely to be deemed ignorant and racist. 

Sometimes playing devil's advocate means the issue can actually be discussed in depth rather than superficial surface comments.  

I find the best part of forums is having critical debates and engaging in meaningful interaction. That's why I'm here, not to just make sugar-coated comments. I'm not insinuating you are but it's each to their own.

Well, yes I'd say everyone's opinion matters. 

I'm not saying playing devil's advocate isn't useful in discussing topics in depth but sometimes not stating our own opinions and simply playing devil's advocate makes the topic very dry imo.

Personally, for me, on this specific topic i'd prefer to remain impartial but in other topics/threads I gladly give my opinion. I just find the race discussions on GGD a little useless? It's a thread and then 40 comments of 'Racist b****. Trash' and a few 'Ignorant/SJW' thrown in there.  It never seems to actually involve a discussion, you know?
