lego 44,165
Is it a coincidence that Trump sympathizers are also the apologists of this woman's racist remark? Just saying. FreePalestine

Playing devil's advocate doesn't mean that you are actually being critical. Then don't quote me making assumptions and call this idea im presenting as 'cringey' because you don't agree. Also: "In common parlance, a devil's advocate is someone who, given a certain point of view, takes a position they do not necessarily agree with (or simply an alternative position from the accepted norm), for the sake of debate or to explore the thought further." I even stated I was impartial. Yes looking at multiple viewpoints is a form of critical analysis/discussion. You could also argue that by playing devil's advocate you have excluded yourself from posting your actual opinion on this which many might be interested in knowing. I think some of the fun on forums like this is seeing different people's perspectives.

I think some fun of forums like this is seeing different people's perspectives. Does my opinion actually matter though? If I say this is racist snd then leave so what? Nothing changes. If I say this isn't racism then I'm likely to be deemed ignorant and racist. Sometimes playing devil's advocate means the issue can actually be discussed in depth rather than superficial surface comments. I find the best part of forums is having critical debates and engaging in meaningful interaction. That's why I'm here, not to just make sugar-coated comments. I'm not saying playing devil's advocate isn't useful in discussing topics in depth but sometimes not stating our own opinions and simply playing devil's advocate makes the topic very dry imo. I personally want to know what people around the world different from me believe. I want to agree and disagree and engage in conversation.

I appreciate you having a conversation rather than a slanging match with me Personally, for me, on this specific topic i'd prefer to remain impartial but in other topics/threads I gladly give my opinion. I just find the race discussions on GGD a little useless? It's a thread and then 40 comments of 'Racist b****. Trash' and a few 'Ignorant/SJW' thrown in there. It never seems to actually involve a discussion, you know? The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

She has the right to dislike the way Michelle looks. She called Michelle Obama an ape because of her skin colour which is really disrespectful. If she didn't like Michelle's outfits because she think it's not a cool one, well that's fine but calling someone an ape in heels is just utterly disgusting and you know it as well and if you think that it's okay to call her like that, then you are just as weird as Donald Trump. Her employer had all the right to fire her, unfortunately they gave her the job back.

And if you are going to claim what she said is not racist, don't even bother talking to me.

There is a history in this country of using references to apes to degrade black people. She knew exactly what she was saying.
