StrawberryBlond 14,861
Nothing about DIC screams 'single.' Too risque, too blunt, too unusual. There's no big dancefloor filler hook that'll make it catch on on the radio. The whole hippie vibe isn't big right now. The only people who can have hits with songs that are completely different from anything on the radio are one hit wonders - and that's why they are what they are. The public don't want to hear this unusual sound for more than one song. A music video would also be very hard to film because the subject matter is too on the nose. There's no space for re-interpretation. There's nothing you can put in a video that would match what's going on in the words apart from the obvious. And Gaga certainly doesn't need a restricted video right now. And also, what if people pick up on the "let's funk downtown" lyric and call her out for copying Uptown Funk and trying to piggyback off a hit song? Especially considering that she wrote this song with Mark Ronson? Gaga doesn't need any more plagiarism accusations. The last one was more awful than we could ever have imagined. She is planning to release it as a single next Summer. Maybe, she's saving the first performance next year so it can sound fresh. I agree with this. She's saving it for the tour, too. She needs SOME brand new elements for that.

Actually this just reminded me.... it's actually more like Mary Jane Holland a risque song with polarising subject matter, that all the fans want to be a single, but which never will. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
