Not sure if its shade though, I think the message was that the singer in the video doesnt want to be poppy/generic/whatever

Omg :air:

I get the message but is he implying that Ariana is being forced to wear those clothes/make music like that?

I wonder if she had a punk rock aesthetic like the girl in the video before :gum:

I guess he's implying that Ariana Grande became a product of the Mainstream and changed herself. Of course she's not a rock girl, but she's originally an R&B Artist, who after Yours Truly, worked on  mainstream Pop Albums with half average/mediocre Pop Songs (Into You, S2S etc.) and half R&B (LMLY, Everyday). (I love the Albums and the Music, but I love R&B Ariana more. )

I don't think he's shading her tbh, just shows what record labels want from their artists the most. It's just an example.

Agreed, I think there is just an overall message of how many pop stars have become more fabricated in the name of successes and popularity. Pretty sad honestly.

Remember yall, success doesn't equate to quality

Well, it might not be shade towards Ariana, but it's definitely a SHADE towards the mainstream pop industry and how record labels turn singers into money-making puppets

The ariana clone getting up and punching the producer kinda shows its not shading her its shading the people who dumbed down her image
