Okay so since people wanted to be cry babies and not discuss this because they were hung up about me saying 70% :madge:, I went ahead and actually calculated it. The real figure is 40% of her official discography is about sex. :stalkga:

So now can we talk about why so many of her songs are about sex? That's 27 songs. :v:

She is not "obsessed" with sex tho, she just enjoys it, as everyone else in the world should :awkney:

And it's a good thing to make art about, and it's obviously an important part of her life, so let ha be! :ladyhaha:

What's with the defensive attitude? Lol did I say it's a bad thing? I'm asking why people think she writes so much about sex compared to other singer songwriters?

The OP kinda sounds like you're questioning/judging her for it, and you should know by now we're all hoes in here, and we defend our sex very dearly, so you had it coming sis :ladyhaha:

Now REPENT! lol :laughga:

Nope just legitimately questioning! I think it's interesting considering the way she speaks about sex in interviews, mainly the ARTPOP era BBC Culture Show one. She seems to have a really complex perception of sex stemming from having older boyfriends when she was young, her sexual abuse, her time as a go go dancer..etc.

Its a basic part of a normal human.

The age difference throws a lot of people off when they are the younger and the object of an older person's advances.   Kinda takes the 'shine' off the polish so to speak ...

I think her view of relationships has been complicated tho.  Since her (and anyone else for that matter) view of sex and love is based on their parents and what she observed of them while growing up.

Then, an older man changed all that and she had to deal with it.  Kinda shattered some of her illusions about men in general it seems.

I feel like it's a combination of everything you've mentioned.

Sex is power (especially as a strong woman), sex sells, it's common in pop music, it's a quick way to get people's attention, she seems to have a strong libido, sexuality was a big part of her younger life (go-go dancing, dealing with men, learning that she is sexy and that she can use it), it's an important part of life as a human because almost all of us experience sexual desire, she's a rebel and sex is a controversial topic, I think she probably wants sex discussion to be more normalised and less tabboo, maybe it's even connected to her sexual abuse because that can open a lot of doors and change people's mentality towards sex... e.g. they can feel like sex is no longer something of importance and has no meaning, they can feel like sex is extremely important and has a lot of meaning, they can be led to constantly avoid sex, or constantly seek out sex, or all of the above. It's a complicated thing really... I think given alllll of this, and probably more, it's just become a very big part of her life, career, and work. By now talking about it would just be habit!

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Yeah I just meant her perspective seems more intense/layered than most people.

I think you hit the nail on the head though, with the older boyfriends shattering the healthy perspective her parents created for her. Plus, being bullied in school probably made her continuously doubt and question whether she was actually unattractive or if it was girls' jealousy. I'm sure Cynthia reminded her it was just jealous girls and immature boys, she seems really level headed. Then Gaga grew more confident and the older boyfriends were sort of validation for her, only to have that validation ruined by her abuser when she was 19. It probably made her even more confused about how adults use sex.

Thats when her relationship with sex and sexuality really became complex in my eyes. This is around the time she "stripped" on stage to get the crowds attention and then forayed into go go dancing. I wonder now if this was some unhealthy viewpoint embedded in her by the sexual abuse, that sex was a card to be played. She did say she didn't even recognize it as abuse until years later. I'm guessing sometime after she got famous and had been using sex as a "weapon" as she used to say. Plus after studying Madonna and other bold females in pop culture breaking the stigma around female sexuality that led her to use sex so often.

I've always wondered if she found it difficult writing/singing about sex after being raped.

Remember that she didn't even register the abuse as rape until many years later. I wonder which point it actually hit her that what happened wasn't normal? Somewhere around The Fame Monster era or Born This Way era maybe. I don't remember the first time she talked about it.. if it was Howard Stern 2014 then maybe in between Born This Way and ARTPOP.

If so, then it's interesting that ARTPOP is her most sexual album and it was written after/during the realization of her abuse.

Before singing Swine at Swinefest she heavily implied what happened to her but didn't say what is was directly until Howard Stern.
