Exactly. She had a bigger team helping her with TF, TFM & BTW and they were MUCH better eras than ARTPOP / Joanne.  I wish she would just realize this.

I wonder what she thinks when she watches Beyonce, Bruno, The Weeknd, etc... all of these artists have extreme success around her and producing huge amounts of content, and she's so far behind them when she used to lead the pack. Drives me crazy

She has the talent but shes too stubborn

Look at Million Reasons... it shoots up on itunes everytime she promotes it... ppl like the song

If the music video was out already and she did 1 or 2 more shows earlier in the release, garanteed it would catch on and be a hit!!!!

Everything I want to say has already been said by others and I've said it many times myself. I don't care where the music is coming from at the end of the day, the main gripe with me is the songs. They just aren't good enough. Beyonce has made mediocre-average albums her entire career. The only one I thought was better than average was her debut and even that one was pushing it. She tends to have one big outstanding song per album but everything else is ok at best, mediocre at worst. And the fact that we don't even know whether to believe this album is based on factual events makes me wonder if Beyonce is in it completely for the money, which I find to be a massive turn-off. And her untouchable goddess image is beyond annoying. When any artist gets like that, they become overrated by default in my mind. I think Gaga's great and all but I would never worship her the way that Beyonce fans do for their 'queen.'

As someone who reviews many albums a year as an amateur, I can confirm that the theory of 'black artists are treated terribly in the industry' is a gigantic myth. Not only do the majority of black artists manage to release an album without any trouble (meanwhile, countless white artists can't because their labels are holding them back) but they are also allowed to do an experimental album in their own vision if they so choose (while white artists are encouraged to be generic and abandon their original vision) and they'll be rewarded with almost inevitable critical acclaim upon release and plenty of awards when award season comes (meanwhile, many white artists, particularly women, struggle to win this praise and get snubbed continuously at award shows - as Gaga fans, we should know all about that). Whether labels and critics prefer black artists or whether they do it to be PC, black artists do not struggle in the industry like we're made to believe. I'm all about giving everyone a fair chance regardless of any superficial elements, so I'm strongly against anyone getting special treatment for some unknown reason. It's just that it's not as obvious a conclusion as we're made to believe. I've said this before and it caused some people to research and understand where I was coming from. Look up how albums were rated this year, black vs white and notice if you see a particular leaning towards supporting artists of colour over whites. I have seen critics praise black stoner rappers who speak nothing but nonsense yet don't give better white rappers the time of day and quibble over clear, insightful works from various white artists. It just makes you wonder what's going on.

Could I ask, what part of Beyonce's critically praised album, multi million sales and countless awards make her not treated equally in this business?

I thought the spoken interludes were awkward as well, if you watch her in interviews there is no way that that poetry comes from her.

I agree totally. Beyonce didn't even finish school, as far as I know, as her family pushed her into the business when she was still a teenager and she didn't have time for studying. Wendy Williams once said she speaks as if she has a 5th grade education, so I don't for a minute believe that all these interludes came from her alone, or were even 50% from her. Thing is, I actually like the interludes. I especially love the one in Hold Up. That amazingly detailed account of a descent into madness borne out of suspicion perfectly describes a certain moment that occurred to me 3 years ago and to be honest, it perfectly describes my anxiety today, when it's at its worst. It's the biggest thing Beyonce has ever produced that spoke to me. But it's all so perfectly constructed that Beyonce couldn't have written it in her wildest dreams so it hardly brings me closer to an understanding of her.

Here's where I stop you

TF+TFM>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lemonade

In terms of everything tbh, especially in terms of being impactful/iconic

I feel you guys are undermining just how powerful Gaga's early work in music has been.

Else where, I don't think this fan base bashes Lemonade as much as you make it sound, In fact I saw most of this fan base label it as their fav/best Beyonce album. The hate I see is more so directed at Beyonce herself as this fan base emphasizes how overrated she is and I agree she is. Beyonce is great and all but she is not offering anything revolutionary. If there is any distasteful remarks being directed towards her then I'm guessing it's jealousy.

This.

I was extremely disappointed when I found out she didn't write the "Becky with the good hair" line. It caused such a stir and was supposed to be one of the most vulnerable lines of the album, and then we find out a month later that the line and most of Sorry was written by a songwriter.

It ruined the authenticity and vulnerability of the album, which was supposed to be its biggest appeal. Was anything on Lemonade made by Beyonce, or should we just see it as a Beyonce approval collection?

She gotta get Beyon-z  and get her own sound back and he gotta give her proper space with all she needs, no control to do so. Cuz she is work'n with a God given talent and not one earned by hard work and discipline all though she pile a bunch of that on top of what God gave her. plus as a fan you gotta give her all the time she needs to be a mommy cuz her Daughter is still young and only so..

Sign,

Whoa, she didn't write that line? I didn't know that. I thought if there was any line she did write, it was probably that one. I know half of the album consisted of a lot of writers so I didn't value Beyonce's involvement on certain tracks as it is but to know that she didn't even write some of the most basic and/or personal lines? That really is disappointing. Looking at the credits, it actually stands out to me that with the exception of Sorry, all the tracks that had minimal outside involvement (4 additional writers or less) were the gentler songs about forgiveness. The most angry, vengeful songs were the ones that required a lot of outside assistance, with around 9-11 additional writers. So it really makes you wonder if she did exaggerate the marriage problems for the sake of making a controversial album to generate sales. If you're going to write songs about relationship troubles, no one would know better than you, right? So why isn't she involved more in the angry songs about the initial hurt? Why is the majority of her involvement saved for the forgiveness tracks?

When you compare Lemonade's credits with Joanne's credits, it's not even worth arguing which one is more genuine. The most genuine is always the one with the lowest amount of co-writers. Hell, Gaga wrote Just Another Day completely on her own. Million Reasons is a 'are we going to split up?' track and it hits me harder than any of the 'are we going to split up?' tracks on Lemonade because I know Million Reasons came from the heart by Gaga's very minimal writing credits and the fact that her engagement broke up for real. But I can't prove that Hold Up is from the heart considering that the track has a big amount of outside help and Beyonce's marriage is still intact. I mean, I still can't understand how she could get over the anger she expressed in Don't Hurt Yourself. I think I speak for everyone when I say that I wouldn't stay with someone who I was that furious with. That's a track that ends your marriage for good. At the end, I was like: "What do you mean 'this is your final warning?' You can't back down and give him another chance after everything you just said!" So, as much as I love that track, considering all the help she got and the theory I just presented, I have to ask myself...was she genuinely angry? Did this showdown really happen between her and Jay? Or was it all exaggerated to make an interesting album to get people talking?

I never call any kind of music trash. I just don't like Beyonce's music. I tried listening to Lemonade, and it's OK for me, but it doesn't have the things I need to get hooked. What hooks me? More than anything, I think it is sweet/catchy melodies or an in-your-face rock'n roll/heavy metal attitude. This is why I like country and metal music, and also why I like ABBA, Max Martin-produced pop (like Katy Perry, Britney Spears and recently also Taylor Swift), and of course Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga is perfect for me, because she has sweet and catchy melodies but also that in-your-face attitude I like in metal music. Beyonce's music is more chill (if that's the right term?), and it just doesn't have the kind of feeling I truly enjoy in music. It's OK in the background, but I'm not hooked by it. To be honest, I think my music taste is very "white", and I hope everyone understands I don't mean anything racist by that. I just know that I lean more towards country and metal than soul/RnB/hip-hop.

I think fan wars are stupid.

That said, it's because of Beyoncé's fanbase TBH, they've been so pressed about GaGa for like a whole year already :rip:

I think Monsters are just reacting to all the negativity that Beyoncé fans send our way.

In any case, is really silly, GaGa isn't threatened by Beyoncé, and vice versa. In fact, they probably get along, so it is just, as usual, just fanbases being embarrassing to one another, that's it.

But they started it, that's for sure :reductive:

Because none of the songs she released since 2011 is a bop. Simple as that. Plus, with the exclusive tidal deals it makes it takes too much effort to listen to her new material.

For me it's simply because there are no tunes on it. Not one. I just found Formation an incoherent mess for example. When I think back to "classic Beyoncé", I think of Halo, irreplaceable and Crazy in Love because all of those songs have an actual Melody. Lemonade bores me. The fact that she brings nothing in  terms of how it was created also is a factor, yet it will be her that reaps all the rewards.

This sums up why I want Adele to win. She had way more input in terms of writing her entire album. I think her music detailing her growth as a person, and now a mother is beautiful. I don't think her sound is for everyone, but at the end of the day we know it's mostly HER work.

I think Adele is the best option out of what's there, even though I'm not her biggest fan by any means. I'd just ideally not like her to win for 2 consecutive albums. Whoever wins, I hope it's someone who put a ton of their own input forward. But I think it's been made so that Beyonce will win. She is up for the most awards overall, Adele has been surprisingly limited and only got nominations for Hello despite Send My Love being somewhat of a hit. The academy gave the award to the year's bestselling album last time (1989) so they might not want to go down that route twice in a row and go in a slightly different direction. Plus, there was so many accusations of racism circling around (even I considered that theory) after Kendrick Lamar failed to win AOTY despite being up for more awards and winning more awards than the white winner of Taylor Swift. Meaning that if Beyonce doesn't win, the academy will be under attack and they might want to avoid that. This is Beyonce's third AOTY nomination and if she loses, her fans will be baying for blood for multiple reasons. That's partly why I can't stand her fanbase. They always act like it's the end of the world if she loses out on an award, even though she's drowning in Grammys and is the most nominated woman and the second most awarded woman in the history of the show.
