Lady Gaga's reveal of her PTSD on the Today Show has made headlines on Bbc World News.

She is so brave, it takes a lot of courage for her to expose herself like that to the world, and I really respect the bbc for giving coverage to this issue. Not all networks have such a global view and are able to tackle and talk about issues like PTSD. I give Kudos to them for reporting on this but mostly I am sooooooooo proud of gaga.

It must be so hard for her to talk about her mental issues and open up, but her acknowledgement brings a new light to this illness which isn't only related to war trauma but can also be caused by something like rape. She truly is an amazing human being and an amazing artist.

I am rambling but I am sooooo proud of her and also happy it is getting coverage.

:kara:

What do you think about such a major news network deciding to give major coverage to such a story and do you think other networks should follow suit?

Why? It is something that is part of her life and causes her pain, it is important for her to bring light to issues like this. Not only because it helps her to open up but also because it can help other people deal with these issues if they are in a similar situation. Also, generally by bringing light to the issue and having major news networks cover it, it allows the issue to be brought to the light allowing more awareness and helping people deal with it easier in the future.

I don't understand how someone can say they "hate" this, if you are indifferent to it, ok I can respect that but hate? Thats a pretty harsh word for something that personally doesnt affect you. So please have some respect for gaga but also for people suffering from PTSD for whatever reason wether it be rape or war trauma.

yeah don't worry I do have respect.
I hate the fact that she makes herself so vulnerable on the public eye. That makes her an easy target to hatred and very nasty comments. I hate seeing Gaga suffer, and being a stan for a long time, I know that what people say about her really affects her, despite the fact that sometimes she says she doesn't care.

You're right, it's good that she brings light to these issues, but I'd much rather she brought these issues up when she was already over them. as in "I used to have PTSD." The fact that she says that she HAS this condition, means that she is vulnerable still to the way people will react to this, and if there's one thing i've learned by looking at the world's interaction with Gaga is that most of the time people are absolute assholes. I hate the fact that gaga makes herself so vulnerable. I hate seeing her hurt. Therefore, I hate this.

What you are saying is true, and it is one of the reason why I m even prouder of her. She is so brave and isn't afraid of what the world thinks. Someone who is afraid of what people will think can be inspired by someone who is constantly in the spotlight and yet has the courage to express her feelings and show with the world the issues she is dealing with. In the end I also think most educated people in the world will see that.

You're right, and I also really admire her for this. This is something I would never be able to do and really Gaga always manages to make me believe that I can be more confident about myself.
I just have a problem with the general spreading of all this. If she had talked about this during a concert it might've been fine 'cause it would preserve its intimacy. But the fact that it's worldwide news? Like Gaga suffering is just one more piece of entertainment for the public to consume. I hate that. I understand it, and I admire Gaga for it, but I don't like it. It makes me uncomfortable :madge:

President Trump

I'm happy she shared this information because it does help people who are also suffering. You can tell she does have some pretty severe problems just by observing her body language.

I feel like it's something she's been hiding for a long time from a lot of people, and a lot of people with PTSD have the same issue of hiding it from their surroundings. The fact that she shared this information might give some people the courage to come to terms with their illness and their suffering. There is no reason to be ashamed of your suffering.

Exactly. I've noticed that in large crowds she gets what I call "the deer in the headlights" look. It's like so many emotions are running through her she just freezes because her brain is so overwhelmed trying to process everything. Poor gaga

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

I hadn't really thought about that but now that you mention it I do remember a few panicked moments like that. She is so strong to be able to continue performing and slaying even with something like PTSD I truly have newfound respect for her :whitney:
