I still like him, his acting is crazy good, and amazing, regardless.

there was no penetration. there was no penetration with a buttered finger.

she was aware of the scene. she was aware he's going to touch her butt cheeks. the butter was supposed to surprise her without making her quit the take. that's why she didn't.

she was a well-known actress in front of a camera and it was the 70s, not the 19th century. intimidated my ass. she could've said no yet she didn't even blink.

Schneider was a junkie who spent the second half of her life looking for people and events to put the blame on.

the fact that it's been known for 10 years and it's only now that people are so outraged and just disgusted speaks volumes about our "progress".

it's just the weather these days... ignorance crying "ignorance". modern classic.

Delusional indeed. She wasn't raped. PERIOD. They didn't penetrate her with a butter stick or anyhing. They are actors not p0rn actors.

They did surprise her with the scene, since it was supposed to be a sex scene instead of a rape scene, but there was no sex....

For Maria Schneider herself, it was something more akin to actual physical assault: “I felt humiliated and to be honest, I felt a little raped.” https://www.theguardian.com/film/filmblog/2016/dec/04/last-tango-in-paris-scandal-brando-bertolucci-maria-schneider-peter-bradshaw

So, hunty, I'll stay Delusional and stand for what's right. If you think it's okay to do things to women without their consent, then you do you. Some of us still have a conscience.

But they did? The director legitimately called for a rape scene with an actress that didn't consent to it and wasn't  mentioned anywhere in her contract... and the director even admitted it

I don't believe any blame has been passed to Marlon though, it seems the director pulled the wool over both of their eyes

Nah, they conspired together

“The sequence of the butter is an idea that I had with Marlon in the morning before shooting, but, I’d been in a way, horrible to Maria, because I didn’t tell her what was going on. Because I wanted her reaction as a girl, not as an actress. I wanted her to react humiliated, I think she hated me and also Marlon because we didn’t tell her that detail of the butter used as a lubricant. I feel very guilty for that.”

OT though

I doubt his reputation will be ruined. The sexual assault (whether you want to call it 'rape' or not is one thing, but it's clearly sexual assault) will likely be seen as a tiny footnote, a 'fun' fact that is occasionally brought up by someone. We live in a society where Woody Allen is still celebrated and working. Roman Polanski is still a respected, working director.

People will continue to praise Marlon Brando as a brilliant artist and shake their head at the awful sexism that to them was just an unfortunate reflection of the period in which he lived.

twisting my words I see. Did I say it's ok to rape a woman? Delusional again....

AND if you really can read you'll see that the article doesn't mention sexual rape

Definitely can view him as the golden age star that he used to be. Disgusting, no matter what his excuse is.

why did you have to go there tho? :toofunny:

just about everyone can see Mia Farrow is a loony manipulative bitch and Woody a harmless, sexless geek. they split after his affair with her adopted daughter. opportunism is a charm. it also stinks. it's only natural to disregard the claims and it has nothing to do with victim blaming psychology.

I mean really though, just a couple of posts above you defend the actions of Brando and Bertolucci despite the fact that Schneider talked about how she felt manipulated, how she cried real tears, how she felt humiliated and a 'little bit raped' by Marlon and by Bertolucci.

Despite the fact that there is video of  Bertolucci literally talking about how he wanted to humiliate and degrade her for the the sake of getting a realistic performance on camera, he admits to being horrible to her and admits that afterwards she couldn't talk to him because she hated him.

Unfortunately it seems that it's you who can't seem to see what everyone else can see
