HOTNebraskaGuy 19,547
How did Dope manage to be a top 10 hit? She performed it once live (during the time it charted)? Was it just a slow time in music? I'm not hating, I love Dope, but out of all the songs she promoted from ARTPOP, how did it manage to be the second highest charting? The Fame Joanne 5,985
All the people who watched the youtube awards live stream (where she performed it) counted as views/streams towards the charts iirc

Modern Ecstacy 3,872
I heard it was because YouTube played ads of it on videos before you watch them so that resulted in so many streams that it ended up making Dope a top 10 hit.

Illuminati 15,942
The low sales of "Dope" were due to iTunes Store's "Complete My Album" program, where the customers have the option of buying the full album and hence earlier song purchases are deducted from the song's current week's total. Despite the low sales, the high debut was fueled by the heavy streams of the song of about 8.2 million, and a number one entry on the Billboard Streaming Songs chart, which is one of the components of the Hot 100. About 95% of the online streams came from YouTube views of the live video of Gaga performing "Dope" at the YouTube Music Awards of 2013.

AndyDWUW 3,971
Now imagine had she performed DWUW instead In the top 10, she might have been more tempted to release the music video or an alrernative, and it may have even climbed higher and longer
