President Trump 3,508
Why are people attacking him? He did a great thing. I know that in one of the early debates, he stated that the way he would get Carrier to stay would be by changing trade deals with Mexico, so the tax imposed would not make the move worth it. I know that Carrier would have been moving through the end of 2019, so by then a Trump presidency would have had plenty of time to alter the trade negotiations. I'm sure a one-on-one conversation stating this intent to upper-level management would have been all that was needed to stop their move. Actually in a way I'm agreeing with you. Another part of my statement: I just don't care about comparing each thing he does to each other and determining what is more crucial. I look at each thing individually. If he does good I will applaud that if he does bad, like with the environment (which I will do my research on), I will fight that. And I hope none of this sounds negative. I have no ill will towards you, but I genuinely don't understand what your goal is, because I didn't disagree with you. I just decided to applaud a small victory. Honey, Global Climate change will kill us all. There are no victories of most of us are dead and the rest of us have become scavengers who are eating lizards and killing other human beings. This thread had nothing to do with Global Climate change. I gave credit where credit was due, but remember I also said: On 11/30/2016 at 0:19 AM, DemeLarell said: I planned to applaud the positive accomplishments and fight the negatives. Yes. Climate change is an issue, but excuse me for celebrating a victory. I can do that. You can dwell on the negatives and be anti trump whether he does good or not, but I choose to treat him like any other president. I applauded them for victories and I spoke up and fought about things I didn't agree with. I KNOW HIS STANCE ON THE ENVIRONMENT, BUT THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. I'm not mad or anything, but it gets a little agitating because I don't know your purpose for telling me this when I said what I quoted above. It seems like when he does something good you guys shove the bad down our throats like we are not aware, like the conservatives did with Obama. This is why I am politically independent because I don't like this division.
Squidward T 2,470
Working in factories is atrocious (the conditions). Being fired would probanly be the best thing for them. And any bets this "deal" was stuffing the CEO pockets with cash either through massive tax cuts or loophole bonuses.

Luc 4,776
1100 jobs in Indiana saved, over 1100 lost in the rest of the country. The money that is paid to the financial elite to make them stay is probably compensated for by raising lower class taxes. Meanwhile every single company will be able to use firing people as a threat for getting special treatment. Symbolic, populist policy.

So, we are still losing 1,100 jobs, the government is making less money, the people are paying more money, and the only winner is the corporation? Sounds exactly like how I thought it would. Who said he was gonna raise taxes on middle class?

Now that companies can get subsidies to "keep" jobs in the US ("keep" in this case means only firing 55% of their employees), it's either the taxpayers or China that will pay for it. China, of course, expects to be paid back. You're right though, Trump will probably borrow trillions from China and then offer to pay them back only 10%. #theartofthedeal

He mentioned Middle Class tax cuts as well And thats not how borrowing works. U dont just ask another Country to lend u money and negotiate a rate. That usually only happens in planned Bailouts like the ones the EU did. Those debt arrangements were done almost like a mortgage in a way Usually Government debt is raised through bonds which anyone can buy. Can be companies, individuals like you and me or yes even other Countries if they choose to invest in bonds The interest rate isnt negotiated in these bonds... its whatever the bond yields are going for the day you buy them which are influenced by several different factors In the US 10 year bonds are at about 2.2% right now. In Canada 1.7%, In Japan 0.7% In destressed European Countries close to 4% Just to give u an idea. 10% like u suggested only happens with high inflation, very strong economic growth (cause investors ditch fixed income for stocks), or during financial meltdowns when investors fear lending to anyone even government

That's what would have happened with Bernie's college plan. Thirty percent of funding was going to come from the states themselves, which meant a ton of services were going to have to be cut....and that usually means the most at risk populations of any state are the ones that end up getting hurt.
