Melech 9,900 Posted November 23, 2016 Share Posted November 23, 2016 "German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday decried the online phenomenon of "fake sites" and "trolls" and said such attempts to manipulate public opinion must be confronted and, if necessary, regulated. "Something has changed – as globalization has marched on, [political] debate is taking place in a completely new media environment. Opinions aren't formed the way they were 25 years ago," Merkel told parliament, according to the German edition of the English-language news website, The Local. "Today we have fake sites, bots, trolls – things that regenerate themselves, reinforcing opinions with certain algorithms." Merkel called for regulation, if necessary. "We have to learn to deal with this," she said. Merkel, who recently announced she is running for a fourth term, alluded to recent Western political upheaval – British exit from the European Union, the election of Donald Trump. "A lot of people are concerned about the stability of our social order," Merkel said. Guest Posted November 23, 2016 Share Posted November 23, 2016 She needs to deal with the fact that in this day and age politicians can't lie no more and can't fabricate those fake stories and then do different sh i t behind the scenes for money, oil and so on. We all woke now and there's nothing to 'regulate', she talks about "trolls" and fake articles but really what she really wants to end is internet activism and WikiLeaks things of that sort.
