Me wanting to comment more on this thread but @Anastasia answers are so good and said in a nice and respectful way that I don't have anything else to say :)

Omg, I love when you guys help out, I always feel like I'm not knowledgeable enough. I love seeing vegans/vegetarians from other walks of life comment so I can continue to learn more. We are definitely stronger together, everyone has their strengths and if we work together we can all help the movement go forward. If each of us focus on what we have experienced and learned from our journeys, in the end we can show our diversity and how veganism is accessible. Thank you for being so kind, it helps when I feel like I feel like I'm not pushing the discussion forward properly, I still am only human and young so it's a work in progress to try and stay mature about things.

Again, thank you for saying that, and thank you for continuing to speak up

I want to tag @Bette Davis @uo111 @kevinthesheep @Born To Slay @Bjaf@ThomastheMonster (I'm forgetting some, sorry!!!) because their comments are amazing and give me new perspective.

This is something i don't understand, because i starved so much while I was an omnivore. I can't count how many time I ate ramen noodles or went dumpster diving at -30celcius in the winter to get food because I spent so much money on a standard brick of cheese or a piece of meat and couldn't afford eating 3 meals a day. A pack or can of beans/lentils is really cheap for example and most of vegetables and fruit are cheap, even for me that lives in a country where more than 80% of its food is from another country and produce are pricier than other places (Canada). I agree that there are vegan products that are expensive, mostly frozen "meats" are, but it's the same for fancy pieces of meat or something like that. There are a lot of products that I buy that are affordable and comparable to the prices of the non-vegan ones.

As a really poor student, veganism really helped me, as I can afford way much more food than i did before.

edit (i forgot to say that aha): I am now living in a really small town in the middle of nowhere in Canada and i was freaking out about the idea of not being able to find vegan food, but they sell vegan products that I thought I would only find in the city. It's harder for restaurants though!

vegetables make me feel full but in like two hours I'm uber hungry again tho

You can't say that before viewing, if it won't affect you then what's the problem with watching it fully?

The biggest issue with people who try vegan diets and fail is that they don't eat enough. You can fill up your plate with the same amount of vegetables as you did meat before, but it won't have the same calorie density. I use an app called My Fitness Pal, you can put in all your stats and log all foods you eat, it will help you get a better understanding of how much you should eat and what your eating habits already are. Also, it's actually okay to eat all day, you don't have to follow the 'rules' of breakfast, lunch and dinner, just eat when hungry and until satisfied. I tend to eat 3 meals, but my snacking is done all day whenever I feel like it, try to not worry about how others live and focus on your own preferences and how you deal with energy for foods throughout the day. Good luck,if you have any more questions feel free to ask :)

It is easier and faster to digest vegetables than meat, so it is normal to be hungry faster. The thing is that the 3 meals-a-day thing is not really the way we should eat and vegan or not, there was no way I could spend that amount of time between meals without feeling weak and/or being extremely hungry.

I read somewhere that the process of digesting meat is longer and more complicated because there are certain nutrients that we cannot properly digest, like cholesterol, so our digestive organs secretes more acids in order to disolve nutrients (i might be using this word badly, english is my second language). It requires more energy and time, which causes meat sweats.

Also, you can eat more vegan food than normal food, because it's healthier and is not making you take weight. Some could say that because you eat more, it's not cheap anymore to be vegan, but it's still cheaper!

It's not a bad thing imo. Omnivores who #loveeating should go Vegan. You never stop eating as a vegan. ^_^

In all seriousness, you need to add some good fats, proteins and complex carbs to your diet to keep you full longer. Brown rice, whole wheat pasta, nuts, avocado, beans, seitan, tofu (don't you be bad mouthing tofu guys).

If you don't care about causing animals and the environment to suffer but care about your well being, I encourage you to consider watching "Forks Over Knives", it's available on Netflix ( if you don't have Netflix you can get a free month trial) It discusses the health aspect of veganism.
