Palestine will unleash all weapons on US if they move embassy to Jerusalem

"Palestine's UN envoy promised to make life “miserable” for the White House if it transfers the US Embassy to Jerusalem, following Donald Trump’s remarks suggesting an appeasement to Israel’s land claims in the West Bank.

Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations, said in Washington on Friday that the move would represent a blatant defiance of Palestine’s rights over occupied Jerusalem. Palestinians would fire back, he said, according to Haaretz.

Mansour, a US-educated diplomat, stressed the possible transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem – partially occupied by the Israelis – would be regarded as a belligerent act towards Palestine. “If they do that, nobody should blame us for unleashing all of the weapons that we have in the UN to defend ourselves and we have a lot of weapons in the UN,” he said.

The modern dispute over Jerusalem dates back to the 1947 UN partition plan that stipulated the creation of two independent states for both Palestinians and Jews. Jerusalem, a symbolic city for Christians, Muslims, and Judaists, was to be given special international status. The plan turned turned into wishful thinking after Israel occupied East Jerusalem during the 1967 Six-Day War with Arab states, declaring all of the city a unified capital in 1980.

Previous White House administrations never favored recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, but the shock results of the US elections have fanned speculations that things might change dramatically.

In the middle of his election campaign in September, Trump said Jerusalem has been “the eternal capital of the Jewish people for over 3,000 years,” promising to accept it “as the undivided capital of the state of Israel” if he is elected.

Later on Sunday, Trump told the New York Times he is determined to reach “the ultimate deal” in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict “and do it for humanity’s sake.”Nevertheless, his staff made it clear that opposing the Israelis’ settlements in the occupied West Bank is no longer a White House priority.

Mansour, however, said he still believes there is a room for maneuver. “Many candidates gave the same election promise but didn’t implement it because what you do when you are campaigning is one thing but when you have to deal with the legal thing it is something else,” he said."

Yea, isn't Jerusalem split into 3 sections for each religious belief? And does Palestine really have weapons? They're acting like they have nuclear bombs. Also, where is the UN located now? Israel?

My Palestinian friend was telling me the US doing this would be bad because it would be like they are recognizing Jerusalem for Israel only and we all know it's disputed, etc.

There are no embassies in Jerusalem, they are all in Tel Aviv.

Seems like a messy move. It will only bring violence.

there are muslim, jewish, armenian and christian quarters. But the main division is between East Jerusalem and West Jerusalem. East is Palestinian territory, though occupied after a lost war with Israel and West Jerusalem which is Israel

Jerusalem is not the officially recognized capital of Israel. Only two countries around the world, Guatemala and El Salvador, have recognizedit as such. Countries such as the USA, Canada and all European nations only recognize Tel-Aviv as the capital and hence maintain their embassies there.

If moving the embassy brings violence than it's just going to be a huge eye roll towards the Republicans and their history of pointing fingers.  And I do expect a big feud if this happens.

The things is that countries like Israel need protection because the rest of the Middle East would love to bomb the **** out of Israel simply because there Jews living.

Im taking cultural geography and my profesor said that tgat part of the middle east is sacred to christians, jews, and muslims. So of course, jerusalem should NOT have an embassy becuase it would cause panic in palestine. Idk but everything is a mess over there tbh

Well, it was Jewish in the place :neyde:

I mean non-Muslims are not even allowed to enter Mecca. Not that I support that for Jerusalem but it is a bit hypocrite. And Hebron ,very important jewish city, is in "Palestine" and Arabs wouldn't allow Jews to live there as well. (See Hebron massacre of 1929)

River

Jerusalam is the proof that the Palestinians are the human shield of the Islamic countries and The Israelis are the human shield of the USA in the middle east.

None of the Islamic countries and USA wants to end this conflict, this is why they are funding them.

The truth is that none of them wants to recognize Jerusalem as a capital for either side.

Trump will not nake any move when he will understand the reasons behind not recognizing Jerusalem, trust me.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
