Oriane 21,116
This is something I've been wondering since the Joanne era started. I can understand that the GP and journalists think Joanne is a totally different thing from what Gaga did before, that this is the first time she does "authentic" music, with "real" instruments etc. But fans know she's "just" going back to her roots (but the music on Joanne is a lot more mature and deeper than what she did back then of course). But it doesn't seem so obvious to some fans. From what I read in a lot of threads, it seems that her career only started with The Fame (well technically, it did, but I'm talking about the whole musical process here). When people talk about their favorite songs etc, only the "real" albums are mentioned and everything she did before seems to be forgotten. It's like the "Gaga" thing only started with The Fame when she did performances like this She was literally mimicking orgasms on stage, crawling on her piano while singing, dancing in bikini and putting fire with a hairspray and a lighter. Very Gaga to me and she still has this crazy presence on stage and in her music to me, she has just shown it in different ways through her different albums. I have the impression that to some fans, "Gaga" is only about crazy outfits, electropop, choreos etc. So, I know I'm not the only "Stefani era" lover here. What about you ? Do you like these songs, performances etc as much as her other albums ? Or do you prefer her from the moment she fully became "Gaga" ? I'm just curious about why I don't hear a lot about this era on this site. Bonus : What are your favorite songs from this time ? FATCAT 60,085
I like it, but I don't idolize it. I certainly wouldn't be on a SteffaniDaily site. This kitten over here (meow)
KURUSHITOVSKA 20,451
At least I do lol, I love Starlight too, seeing how Gaga was being created little by little, the progress. Nd I love how creative it was with very simple things like a hairspray and a lighter or disco bras... I love the songs too, very 2000s pop. I cant with those who hate Starlight, like she helped Gaga so much. Sooo ungrateful they are ¿Qué currículum tiene ésta tarántula?
The Surrealist 27,470
I love her. Wish she would have gone down that route, dying her hair black, some good ol' piano songs, being happy. My favorite song is Hollywood, which has become ironic.
AJH219 4,448
I personally don't care about her pre-fame days. And if I can be perfectly honest, I don't particularly care for her pre-Born This Way days either. But that's because I didn't become a super stan until then 'All our dreams can come true IF we have the courage to pursue them'-Walt Disney
giskardsb 12,565
When she first said "going back to her roots" 90% of GGD assumed that meant The Fame, so it wasn't only the GP thinking that. I always assumed she meant pre-fame though, I still think some of those songs are her best work, particularly the beatlesesque pop rock tracks like oh well and let love down. Squeeshy Keety 9,908
She wouldn't have become my favorite if I heard any of these songs before the modern Gaga, but Electric Kiss is incredible! Chelseaaaaaa 1,453
I like it. I'd love for Gaga to sing an old, old song (like the ones you posted) on her upcoming tour. It exposes more casual fans to her roots while the diehards will know what's going and probably love it. I think 'Hollywood' fits in with 'Joanne' but I'd settle for anything. giskardsb 12,565
Let Love Down would have been a perfect Joanne bonus track.

AlexanderMagno 10,746
The "Pre-Fame" Gaga is more similar to the "Fame" Gaga than to the "Joanne" Gaga. But it makes little Monsters happy to think otherwise, ok for me.
SpookyKid 15,153
I love it, Red and Blue is really a great album, and has some of Gaga's (Stefani) best songs imo My favorites are Words and Blueberry Kisses Life has a hopeful undertone |-/
Glamourpuss 29,062
I love pre-fame Gaga but she wasn't Gaga then, she was Stefani so that's why the music doesn't get talked about much. I love her at the piano. She is at her best at the piano. Her passion and drive to become noticed was something I admired so much in the early days. She had this big charisma and I miss that about her now that she has made it big. Some of her best songwriting ever was before she became famous. No Floods, Let Love Down, Wonderful, Fever, Captivated. I really hope she properly goes back to her roots one day. I feel that Joanne is different to pre-fame Gaga, not in a bad way, and they shouldn't really be compared.
