I have to say, i just absolutely love Daddy Lessons, is one of my songs of the year.

But who is more country is stupid, both approached it from different direction, you can't even compare them imho.

Of course Beyoncé did, cause Joanne isn't country anymore :laughga:

Gaga's album has more of a deep-western twang than a "country" aspect.

But it is true, Gaga's not a country girl, and it would feel disingenuous if she tried to go country.

Why does it have to be a competition of who has more of a claim to a type of music though? That's fking ridiculous and is not what art and music is about. They're both passionate about the mudic they make, why try to discredit that for either of them?

So in order to give Beyoncé props for her little controversial country thing, they have to come take some from the person who's currently getting the country props by her damn self.

Cute.

Good thing Gaga's music speaks for itself.

I love both of them and pop and country music. I hate seeing people limit an artist exploring different genres. If we don't grow as people, as artists, we die. I've seen country mudic attack bey and it's so dumb. Music is the best thing in my life. I hate seeing people try to control it.

I completely agree. There's more than enough love and talent to go around. I HATE when they knock someone down to elevate another artist as if there's an equilibrium that must be maintained.... it's ridiculous :saladga:

I know right. It's a concept album that uses the metaphor of the countryside as our spiritual home, but it's pretty much genre-less. Disco-pop, dance-rock, indie country, soul and folk music are all in it.

F*ck me, the media is made up of airheads who aren't informed about what it is they are writing about.

Houston is actually not very much of a country music city.  Assuming that because she's from "the south" she has a better "right" to a music genre is heavy stereotyping and puts Country Music into a particular box.   Critics have an issue with Gaga because she didn't just step out of one box into another, she straddles boxes and makes her own musical Gumbo that they don't know what to do with.  So they just claim she is not authentic for not fully stepping into a box.  It's lazy criticism.

Lady Gaga not even put out a country song though. Daddy Lessons is closer to country than anything on Joanne. Plus, Beyonce' is from the south. It's in her blood.
