tomdsgn 1,913
Hey guys, I've just stumbled upon something I wrote 3 years ago and wanted to share it with you - because apparently me 3 years ago was onto something! "I realised last night that David Bowie had an album out nearly every year during the 70's/80's. How did he do it? Did he tour much? Did he have a big team to help him? How much was he involved in the production or promotion of his work? It's funny that legends like Dolly Parton and Bowie had albums out every year and nobody cared, but it's frowned upon today. Where an artist like Lady Gaga is concerned, I'd rather have a Fame Monster sized album every year, to be honest. But Gaga controls too much of her career for that to be possible. Too busy. In an age where it's possible to distribute music more easily and affordably, it is frowned upon to do so. Very odd. I personally would welcome a change in the paradigm of releasing music. Less music, but more often? Sounds good to me. Lady Gaga's ARTPOP App is hopefully a step in the right direction for this way of thinking. I hope this app is used for a long time." Okay, so the ARTPOP app wasn't the start of anything, but it's funny to note that with someone like Drake, releasing music constantly seems to be okay now? Whereas Rihanna had been demonised for it for the past 7 years!
display name 4,360
But doesn't Drake write some of his raps? Rihanna just has to get the good ole writing camp together, take a vacation, and return to albums that are pretty much complete. That's why their situations are seen differently, I think. Though I think Drake uses ghostwriters... But as long as he's in the credits, I don't think most people care. Rihanna makes it obvious she's not in the room most of the time. doppelganger 3,933
I personally wouldn't mind a new release every year - whether a jazz album, movie soundtrack or EPs. We know Gaga makes a lot of songs and then narrows them down . Which makes me wonder what'll happen if she just decides to record a bunch of songs, not put too much thought into the overarching message/theme and just releases them fresh off the press. Grigio Gays 126
I was thinking about how Gaga should release music more frequently. The reason ARTPOP and Joanne were so harshly judged is because there were years of waiting and anticipation between them to hype them up. Also, if she continuously released music (instead of doing other mini projects), her fans would be feel more connected to her as an artist (like they did in 2008-2011, where we got 3 albums in 4 years)
LUCARTPOP 5,924
She shouldn't, it's one of the main reasons people gave up on her after Born This Way, she got overexposed.
SS77 2,031
The fact that The Beatles released 12 masterpieces of albums in the span of only 7 years is insane.
Thomas P 18,479
I don't think she would ever do that. I'm here for it, but like gaga would never. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

alejandreaux 1,053
In Rihanna's case, when you have an album out every single year yet your name is nowhere near the songwriting credits, it just starts to feel like a factory-made production rather than organic and inspired music. Her eras used to have no space between them either. like when "Cheers" was still smashing in 2011 she dropped "We Found Love" right on top of it, and when "Where Have you Been" was smashing in 2012, "Diamonds" came out before it had a chance to have longevity, etc. Personally I don't care when Rih releases her music because she always serves BOPS but I can see why people were tired of it. I appreciate that Gaga always takes a moment between her albums to truly be inspired by what she's making before she releases something. I'd rather her take years between albums and release quality music every time, than release an album of radio filler every 8 months.
Darcklighter22 2,358
TFM for the most part gets acclaimed from most fans and GP, and was her quickest released which proves she doesn't need to overthink/produce her stuff even tho that aspect will never change. I still feel she has enough material to release tracks ment for other eras she could rework so she would put out mor music more often but at the end of the day she will do what she wants and also with the implied restrictions from her label.
