Aren't those stories from when white people were pretty loose with the n-word and had no reason to make up a codeword for it? We don't even have black people where I live. The term isn't racist, deal with it. If you think so, than you probably don't know or are confused about what "racism" is or how it works, Idk what else to say other than to again assert that it is indeed racist for many reasons... as several other participants in this thread have shown Dictionaries don't define culture, words don't exist in vacuums, meanings are malleable and prescriptivist language and beliefs are both restrictive and repressive OT: As I and others have said, this man was not being violent, or appearing to be a criminal in any way, the term "thug" is inappropriate in this situation unless you consider the societal usage of the word, in other words, his only offense here was being black; and using this word that means 'violent criminal" based on nothing but his appearance is literally textbook racism 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

PartySick 172,426
Google "thug". I did and I got pictures of Tupac, tons of black men, and a few hispanic men. The only white guys were "thug life" fail memes. "It isn't a racist term" ha. Try living here in the American South and see what "kind" of people are called "thugs". @Gaga Monster I find it pretty useless to bring in that "Hillary paid the protesters" thing. It's irrelevant. This guy is (or hopefully was) a Trump supporter just trying to give the dude a letter. He wasn't being violent. And even if he was, in my opinion, the people who rise to an instigator are just as guilty as the one that started it. Even more so in some cases 'cause they know it's wrong but they do it anyway. And don't pretend Trump doesn't feed into it himself. "I'll pay your legal fees", "back in the good old days, they'd be taken out on a stretcher, folks", "I'd like to punch him in the face". I don't understand how you or anyone else can defend him, regardless of whether you support him or not. 1 minute ago, YourSweet666 said: Well that explains some things... Well then exactly, your experience is NOT the american experience, where the word "thug" is incredibly racially charged against people of color, especially men; In this context and how it was used, it was incredibly racist. It doesn't have to be a word that's always racist in every context everywhere on earth to be racist and as I said before, Dictionaries don't capture culture and connotation, they are totally fallible. 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
