Letmelivemylife 8,715
I love her because she's that nerdy quirky girl from New York just like I am. It's scary how much of myself I see in her. We both talk with our hands a lot lol. Haha my teachers (especially sister Josephine who taught 8th grade English) used to make me sit on my handswhen I would give a presentation at school (true story). As the years went on, she became my rock. She filled voids in my life that no one else could fill. She became my surrogate "mom" in a way. She saw how broken and damaged I was and she took me in and "glued" me back together. She gave me a million reasons to stay when I had a million reasons to let go. She promised she would never let me go and she never did. I'll always be greatful for that I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you
nativenewyorker 1,190
It's a long story for me. In 2009, I was going through a lot of turmoil in my family and suffering a lot of emotional pain, feeling very unsure of my future and the future of my family. Her story of working hard to get her voice heard in the world inspired me and encouraged me to pursue my own dreams of making music and personal fulfillment. Her accepting nature and "be proud of who you are" message was something I could latch onto. She made me feel less lost. In my family, I felt like an outsider, at school and in my neighborhood I felt like an outsider. She gave me hope that if I worked hard enough, I could be able to live my dream like she did. I was fascinated that she used her talent and discipline to create a lane for herself and find success. I was also really into indie music at the time but grew up on pop music and when Gaga came along, touting her underground lifestyle being channeled through pop music, it was perfect. Watching her old performances as Stefani and hearing the Red and Blue EP convinced me she had talent and a message. The way she reinvented herself to win over the ones who doubted her without compromising her artistic values was really inspiring and refreshing. She was like a guiding light and mentor to my younger, more insecure self. Allowing me to feel less alone and inspired to reach my full potential and she still is to this day. I'll be with her til the end.

Lol exactly. If you've ever seen the movie "Up", gaga is Dug to a freakin T. "Hi!!!!! My name is Dug. I've just met you and I love you". Lol yep that's gaga in a nutshell lol I love you monsters. 666 others 1,856
I come from a very different musical background compared to most other GGD members. I never heard any hardcore pop music. No Madonna, no MJ, no Bowie, no Britney; all I heard of western music before 2010 were Linkin Park, Bryan Adams and a bit of Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. In 2010 I was randomly seeing MVs on youtube when I somehow stumbled upon Lovegame and was instantly hooked. The catchy, cheeky lyrics caught my attention first ("Did she actually say Disco stick? lol"). From there it has been a journey of never-ending admiration of her music and her person. What is the main reason I love Gaga? I think it has to be the amount of raw talent. But I also equally admire how she is never scared to be different from the norm and be a trendsetter. She can carry a meat dress and a traditional ball gown with equal poise, and the moment she sits at the piano and starts singing, her audience is unable to focus on anything else. Edit: This thread sums up very nicely what I wrote above. :holyshit:

Miracle 14,068
Her music and her persona in general. We would be best friends if we knew ourselves. We would talk about Rainer Maria Rilke and David Bowie for hours. Plus, her music has helped me go through my teenage years and still helps me go through. She's like a magician for me
