Blacks & Hispanics(especially the older generation) are very socially conservative & religious as a predominant whole & the media likes to portray most white Americans as free-thinking accepting liberals at times, so with all that being said. I mean, I know that a lot of the older generations can be considered highly conservative and I get the aspect of religion as a form of conservatism, but I think as time goes on, people find ways to make religion agree with political ideologies. That's what many Enlightenment thinkers did in order to make religion agree with science and politics and that's been going on for ages as we begin to realize that religion is more of a moral compass rather than a moral path to salvation or release However, it hits me hard because I go through this struggle constantly, and I assume you, as a fellow PoC, go through similar struggles as well. I don't like to be typified or so strictly categorized as my whole life, I've lived a life in between the lines; as a Latino my I cannot comfortably classify myself as a certain race because the color of my skin and genetic make-up defies my politically defined race which is ironically "white", I'm still coming to terms with my sexuality and wonder if there really is any use in categorizing myself as bisexual who leans more towards men or homosexual who still finds women attractive and wouldn't mind being in a relationship with the right one, and, last but not least, being an ambiguous person overall when it comes to race, politics, aspirations, personality, etc. Sure, certain statistics might say otherwise, but to me, I do not feel happy having to be inside of a box and be expected to act or behave a certain way based on what society tells me is right for a person such as myself. Yet to even have a completely ignorant interpretation of certain statistics is even more offensive to me and I do not stand for it. Some people need to learn why they're wrong and maybe they won't learn at all, but at least they'll know that certain people will not stand for ignorance or intolerance, or even worse yet outright stupidity Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

And as for what that other guy said. When gross generalizations are made like that, it is up to people like US to enlighten that person. At least here in Canada its the case Whites tend to be most liberal on all kinds of things The issue is that in America Republicans kinda cast them out and dont give them value or talk like their criminals and thats why they tend to support democrats.
