Why? Nah. Look at Dark Horse.

I don't believe MR will be as strong as DH. That one was a monster hit. MR won't survive another single era before having its time to shine.

It seems like Gaga's campaign to prove she's talented is never going to be over. At least not for the next 5 years or so.

Million Reasons is the only way to change that. If it becomes a big hit it will completely change people's image of Gaga because everyone knows that for the GP singing a ballad automatically means you're talented.

And I disagree with Gaga's harsher-sounding songs all flopping, because TeoG and Yoü and I are also quite harsh-sounding. It's definitely what failed PI though, and what will make sure John Wayne and Diamond Heart will never become hits.

Prelude: Perfect Illusion

Lead single: Million Reasons

Second single: A-YO

Third single: Joanne

Fourth single, for the fans (a la G.U.Y.): Dancin' in Circles

on the other hand I can imagine why she wouldn't want DIC to become a single. G.U.Y. was the second biggest fan favourite from ARTPOP and ever since it flopped I haven't really seen anyone thinking the song is incredible. Same with Marry the Night, though to a lesser extent. Let's be real here, commercial success greatly influences people's opinions on pop music and maybe DIC should be another DITD.

Ready for the US to wake up. Drake is simply getting nightly (stabilising) updates because that's what happens with new singles. As soon as it's morning again, Gaga will snatch #1. I wonder how MR would've done without a discount.

and leaving MR for after winter would be a disaster. MR has momentum NOW and if they send it to radio NOW it will become an Unconditionally-sized hit at the very least. If they release it in three months it will not have any more momentum and won't ever reach top 10 on iTunes again.

Britney's carpool has 300K likes and 25MILLION views.. Gaga has 280K likes and 8 million, do you think it needs to be updated or these numbers mean nothing

Likes in first few days = fanbase size. Likes are more frontloaded than views by the way.

I think MR might get some light green updates or even white updates today in the US. It's slowing down in Germany and the UK already.

But I think it has to do w/ time of release. Britney's video has been out for a while now. Adele's has 100+ M hits bc it's been out for 7 months. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet.

What if MR is another Piece by Piece by Kelly Clarkson? it skyrocketed to #1 after Idol performance but wasn't a big hit in the end.

A-YO has aggressive vocals in the chorus which may turn some people off but overall it has this cool vibe which PI was lacking. PI is too serious and sounds like a Born This Way album track which was clearly too much for radio.

live each day like Gaga might drop an album

People don't want the cool vibe from Gaga. People don't know what they want from Gaga, so it's Gaga's job to just try different things and it's Interscope's job to just listen to whatever iTunes shows. No point in saying 'but A-YO has a catchier chorus' - MR has already proven to be a bigger potential hit and it's a good song for the holidays season so really: interscope wyd?
