Gaga Can't Win with Critics

I think it's really sad that a lot of the reviews I've read so far have been so incredibly bias towards Gaga.  They compare everything against the rest of her work instead of letting the work stand on it's own.  They all seem to want whatever she isn't giving them at the time - like she's too stripped back this time when people complained that she should let her voice shine and strip away the theatre?  Or she's being fake and not authentic, but Born this Way was 100000% authenticity and amazing when it was bashed to hell at the time?

It's like she literally cannot win, even though what she delivers is amazing.

They have a personal bias, and will reach for anything to take her down.

Nobody calls out the critics for lack of intelligence. I mean, it's one thing to be ignorant, it's another to broad cast it to the world so everyone knows how stupid you are.

On what planet is diamond heart vague?! Why should her previous work be mentoned as a point of interest for this album?

All I see is idiot after idiot that can't do their job properly.

Yeah, there's nothing we can do about it.  Painful to watch, tho.

It is sad and incredibly unprofessional to let hatred of the Gaga "brand" blindside your review.

Everyone has the right to an opinion even if it is negative, but a professional critique/review of any type of product should be based on some form of objective analysis and not on a unjustified hatred of someone's previous work, which is completely irrelevant.

In their minds, the are doing their jobs properly.  Their job is to sell their publication, to increase readership.  If they think their readers have a bias against Gaga, a positive review from them could cost them readers.  Also, controversy and sensationalism sells publications, and some journalists favor that over the truth.

Teenage Dream got a 52 on Metacritic and still managed to get nominated for AOTY at the Grammys. Yes, Katy's singles were massively successful, but the reviews don't always make it or break it for an album. If Gaga can stay in the spotlight and manage to get 1 or 2 successful singles from this album, I'm sure we'll see success. Success that far exceeds some bias critic.

I have never understood this and it's really frustrating. reviewers and some of the general public do it at every given opportunity its like its the "in" thing to do. Gaga is one of the most talented musicians of our time and they are quite happy to rip in to every minor detail whilst giving praise to the MOST GENERIC music from other artists. I swear if other popular musicians make a random country/folk album and it gets praise for pushing boundaries and being unique i'm going to lose it.

I mean, Joanne is a great album, not necessarily revolutionary and not even one of the best pop albums of all time, but a great pop album nonetheless that is better than ARTPOP and an album not deserving of all this lambasting by certain critics

If Gaga really, really, and I mean really wanted that universal acclaim, she would drop all pop elements from the album, but because she is basically a commercial entity and we, as her fans and stans, are her constituents, she and her label have to make artistic and commercial compromises with one another just so that we can enjoy the album as a whole rather than a select few

It's the most economical decision, but Joanne could be harsher, more raw, rustic, unforgiving. However, most of you wouldn't buy the album if Gaga really went deep into some Joanne alternate dimension influenced by country, bluegrass, alt-rock, indie-rock and void or extremely lacking the pop influences riddling the album. Just spilling some piping hot truth tea even if I consider Joanne to be either Gaga's second best or the best of her main discography :lana:

Majority of humans are dumb as hell. They don't like change, they fear intelligence and disrespect talents. Sad facts.
