Why is Japan so important?

We have all seen the lavish promo Japan got (and its still not #1 there :neyde:) and it got a bonus track.

Gaga has treated Japan specially since Born This Way and she's not the only one. Lots of artists release special covers for Japan, special bonus tracks, special EVERYTHING.

Japan is always treated.

WHY? Is it that hard of a music market to penetrate that they have to go a bit extra?

I dont get!

CDs in Japan are generally more expensive so in order to try and encourage people to purchase them, bonus tracks are normally added.

Japan is the 2nd largest music market, yea?

Plus, not many western acts are big in Japan. Gaga happens to be one of the few to prevail there (ARTPOP was awarded one of the best international albums in 2013) so she might as well keep her edge.

I'd guess and say Japan has a great return on investment: when a record company spends X amount extra, they get even MORE bang for their buck there. Perhaps the Japanese are willing to spend more for their music products.

It's one of the largest physical music markets. People still purchase CD singles there. Also because the Japanese Stan culture is a very profitable market

The extra tracks are definitely because of the higher price of albums there but when the market is so big I'm not surprised artists go a little extra to catch their attention too, it boosts sales more with less effort than you would need elsewhere

Because after US , Japan is the second biggest music market in world , despite that , no other artist (especially western artist) is as huge as Gaga is in Japan, and they always treat Gaga like a goddess , so Gaga returns their love back, and also Japan is a very different , modern and really educated country, in a way that no country can compete with Japan.
