Queen Gloria 3,464
Has it already happened? Ever since Gaga announced that it was inspired by Trayvon Martin, I'm waiting for social justice bloggers to start saying things like "We don't need your help, white girl". Which is sad, but they do it every time someone reaches out and tries to support the cause. It's ironic and rather sad that people in the BLM movement call for peace and equality and justice, yet turn down the solidarity of other ethnicities. I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just expecting her to get dragged by black people for being the "white savior" speaking on "their" issue. It's a common thing that happens whenever a caucasian celebrity speaks up about racial injustice. I wish it wasn't the case, but it's bound to happen. Miley 5,006
Nah, only CNN that was shook (in a good way)
Edonis 28,950
Honestly she's handling the whole situation/song very respectfully by not crossing any boundaries and whatnot. The CNN article was a perfect explanation as to why she wrote the song as well as Joanne. As for backlash, no joke, I've only really seen pop music stans from other fans bases mad. Most people either don't know, or haven't said anything on it. I think it'll be received well.
MonsterJay 1,539
It's an amazing song and it'll be idiotic for anyone to attack it.
Dayman 6,169
Some Beyoncé stans have already started saying it. Which is possibly more because they're pitting Beyoncé against Gaga in a way.
DeleteMyAccount 11,881
It'll probably happen. But in the end, Gaga isn't telling the black community how to feel. She's only putting out her emotions through song.
jajagaga1896 89
I don't see why this should happen... I know you're not trying to be negative but let's remain positive until something actually happens (and even then, who cares...) Angel Down is a very well written song, it is respectful and knows its place. It is inspired by him but could be meant for so many others, too. I think if social justice warriors are to take a negative stance against it, they are being counterproductive in their own efforts and fighting against the exact opposite thing they should be fighting! Gaga is just another human who has been effected by these humanitarian tragedies, and is expressing that. For what it's worth, I don't think Angel Down sounds like it is trying to be anything or taking advantage of anything - it is genuine and heartfelt. If people want to read negatively into it, I wouldn't give them another seconds attention.

DemeLarell 931
Can we not generalize BLM or black people. And it is not a common case. pseudo intelligence must be my phrase of the week but hey what else would I call it.
Phong Le 204
Gaga is not representing BLM, this is just her reaction to it.
Adakam 2
And if it happens its the kind of bad promo that actually helps the album, so its a win-win thing

I've seen it happen literally every single time anyone who isn't black speaks out in support of BLM. I was just thinking about it after she made the comment, and I'm hoping it's not the case. But I don't have high hopes, especially when it comes to Tumblr. It's just ironic to me how people offer support and solidarity, but it's turned down and taken as offense because the person offering it isn't of the same color. EDIT: I just realized @Edonis started a thread on the same topic on Wednesday, so clearly I'm not the only one with this fear. Don't try to paint me as racist for feeling this way. Higher 2,406
Y'all bitch about black people too much. So what if they get upset? I only see other stans complaining. Gaga is being respectful unlike other artist who stick their noses in others peoples business and make some dumb ass comment. Most of those tumblr sjw are white anyways Finally feeling free for the night, I got no worries. Finally got a claim on my life, baby, c'est la vie. ☄️

Again to be fair I didn't say the black community would be against the song. That was only one of many factors related to controversy. There are also other people and parties (ALL lives matter/police lives matter/conservatives/NRA/etc.) who may also respond in different ways as well. Like I've said, Gaga will always have her detractors but as long as she treats the topic sensitively (like she's done) then she'll be good overall. KingRedd 3,139
Gaga comes off genuine. She said "black" lives matter. Most white celebs I see think they are helping by saying all lives matter. That's where people get upset. You'll have those people who will be mad no matter what but we can't generalize all black people because of tumblr or social media warriors. Gaga will get criticized but it won't matter because those who are intelligent will understand the song and it's meaning. May I Read You? 😎
