Did Gaga save the promo?

I noticed that now she's beginning to roll out the big promo.

She's appearing on GMA today, SNL tomorrow, Im expecting Carpool to drop in a few days (if not today) and she might be on Ellen next week.

Did she save the big promos for the actual album release? I think she didn't want to exhaust all of these amazing places to promote just for the first single, think she waited for the big release.

I took a marketing course once and this is actually a great strategy! If she had exhausted these mediums promoting Perfect Illusion, the single would've sold and the album would've been overlooked. She can't go to these shows one week to promote her lead and then 4 weeks later to promote her album, don't think they'll allow it. So smart ass Bobby decided that radio promo for the single and bigger promo for the album would be better.

We'll see how it all plays out. This sounds like a case study we did in my marketing class....

Mister Gaga

The plan's good, but there's a flaw. There's not even one semi-popular song on the table..it will be hard. You won't convince the GP to buy an album by promoting, idk, 6 different songs at the same time. At least ONE signature song it's needed (see how ARTPOP's sales were driven just by applause)

Yes.  Gaga's numbers are front loaded.  She's #1 now almost everywhere.  To avoid a huge drop, it is a good idea to roll out the promo during the days just after the release.  The GP have short memories.  If they see the promo before they can buy the album in the stores or download it, they could forget about it by the time the album is available.  Gaga may be going for consistently high sales throughout the first week, rather than just the first day.

I live outside the space time continuum.

Honestly, I have always found huge promo prior to album release, doesn't work very well. Now that she is promoing at the release and just after, like most albums these days, I think an actual hit song will build momentum instead of just bursting out and dying fast. I am hoping she is playing the long game this time, because we have some months until SuperBowl, and my god she has some good music on here that I need out by then~

Needs more physical promo, too. Even C2C had more posters and instore displays

Do YOU own the 4' by 6' Perfect Illusion promo Poster? Will pay you for it. Pic: http://i.imgur.com/UWuzumk

I would actually argue the music industry is in a vastly different place than it was in 2013. I think it is smart to promote an album as a full body of work, since streaming platforms have encouraged more listeners to listen to the album in its entirety (Lemonade is a good example of this - Formation, while it was popular, it was not a radio hit, and neither was the rest of the album but it is considered to be a huge success.)   So many people now subscribe to Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, etc. that if their interest is sparked by any of the songs promoted, it may lead them to go check it out!

Revenue would be definately be bigger because if you invest money/time/appearance to something that costs 1$ or something that costs 14$ is not the same. You already know that ;)

I think doing all the promo when the album is actually available makes more sense.

We live in an impatient, fast-paced society. It would be frustrating for casual fans (who don't follow her every move like we do :toofunny: ) to see Gaga promo and think "Oh cool! Gaga has a new album out!" ...only to find out that it doesn't come out for another three months.

Promo too far in advance of an album's release is useless since people can't just buy it.
