Born Brave 2,072
I think she was dragging Zane more than Madonna
boyerased 2,886
Honestly I think Zane wasn't that serious about it and Gaga should just played along and bantered a little. She kinda overreacted, well I understand she's tired of it. But then she could've just replied jokingly.

Gaga hasn't directly said anything overtly negative about Madonna. Quoting from her Stern appearance: “Honestly, I think she’s more aggravated that I’m not upset that she doesn’t like me ... There’s this thing with some people that I’m a threat to the throne… I don’t want your ****ing throne. No thanks. I have my own.I don’t want a throne at all. I don’t view myself as a queen. I view myself as one of my fans." Seems a bit disingenuous coming from someone calling themselves "Mother Monster" I appreciate you citing examples. I'm reading all these posts and trying to look into the context of these. I just want to apologize if my initial posts come off as dismissive. You have to understand that I was not aware of any past bullying. I was missing that context. Maybe that's not a good excuse (my own ignorance). But I was approaching the interview solely on the interview itself and what was said. I was not bringing in the context of their personal history, and what she's said in the past. And that totally can change the perception someone else has of what she said. So I apologize for not understanding that perspective you guys had. Like I said, I need to chew into this a bit more. But I hope this conversation at least is an example of how two people that have different opinions - can actually talk, and come to an understanding of where each person is coming from. Even if in the end we don't agree or come to the same conclusion, we had a meaningful conversation and expressed or view points. And at least we have an understanding of other view points. So thanks again to you and others for posting stuff. I'll check it out. My perception and interpretation was based on the interview alone, so I can certainly understand now how this other stuff plays a part in how you perceive what she said. Regardlsss if we end up agreeing or not, I think it's safe to say this was a bad PR moment for Gaga regardlsss. It came off poorly, and will be perceived negatively by most. TheBatman 951
She didn't have to drag M. Everyone knows no one works harder than Madonna. Everyone knows she writes produces and is directly involved in every smallest detail of her art. Gaga made herself look bad with this.
gagu 1,928
She is just tired of comparisons, she said something similar three years ago about Katy Perry. It's not just about music but the entire work behind it that is different. Her aim was to make this clear, not to shade. "Jezus iz a biskweeeet!" lego 44,165
I can’t wait to smoke them all. Whole pack like Marlboro. Blow it in your face. Blow it in your face. Blow it in your, blow it in your face. I can’t wait to rev you up. Faster than you can say Ferrari. Tearin’ up the gravel, watching you unravel. Now it’s a party. Hey! I can’t wait to cast my spell. Which one you’ll never tell. ‘Cause I got it covered, city babies lovin’. Got you trippin’ like no other. FreePalestine

But there's no way that was going to happen under the circumstances. This is Gaga's moment in the sun, and he brings up Madonna? In such cases there is one line from that interview she could use: "I just will not be compared to anyone anymore." If the interviewer persists she could just walk out. Gaga's responses in the past have sometimes been scattered and not thought out. I believe that was the case here. She was mixing two thoughts without intentionally shading Madonna, and didn't even realize how it would be interpreted by the viewers. That's my opinion. Walking out would be rude to the interviewer, but is still better than risking coming off as shady towards Madonna, imo. But for that to happen, Gaga would have to be aware that she isn't always able to express her thoughts clearly. I don't think Gaga is a shady person, but she has a persistent problem in wording things the wrong way, the way she didn't intend. I live outside the space time continuum. James19709 456
4 hours ago, MLVC said: Madonna's reductive comment was specifically about one song (Born this Way). Personally, I ADORE Born This Way and I think its more than just a song, its an anthem and a political statement. But thematically and sonically its similar to "Express Yourself" (which I don't necessarily see as a bad thing.) Instead of owning up to that fact and saying she was inspired by another gay rights activist to write a song about empowerment, she oddly denied the similarities and said she was inspired by Whitney Houston, (??) who hadn't done much for our community. Madonna said "She has her thing. I do think she's a very talented singer and songwriter. It was just that ONE issue." You can't judge an artist by their fan base. Unfortunately the media picks up the fanatic monsters and makes them look far worse than Madonna fans (i.e. the petition online to "stop Madonna from exploiting the gay community" that made the blogs last year). She also lied about Madonna emailing her about it LMAO
