Poorly reviewed albums can make bank, well reviewed albums can completely tank. The sales numbers for an album/movie/book do not, in any way, correlate to quality. That is purely subjective. The point of the "mental shield" is a reminder that one shouldn't be ashamed of liking or loving an album just because it "under performs" or worse.
