Ohhhhhh okay I see what you're saying. Maybe if there was like some sort of spoken intro or something in the lyrics to be a bit more specific. Maybe she wanted it to be vague though? Chris Evans 8,917
from what I've seen the black community has praised her on twitter for being "woke"
Rugbyguy 144
I don't think it will create controversy. She's not a polarizing figure anymore like she used to be so I doubt the public will take notice.
iMonster 1,037
As a Black Latino American I couldn't be more proud to hear Gaga singing on this matter. I'm pro-Black Lives (and 'All' but it's not about 'All' at the moment) and Pro-Cops because I have family members who are cops and they protect the streets (and quite frankly just do their jobs). But let's not deny the fact that the Black community is indeed hurting from a small minority of bad cops. That's another thread however. I feel she should release it as a single. Not for the controversy aspect solely but simply because it's a beautiful song. It can relate to a lot of different unfortunate pains at the moment, from BLM to terrorism, personal tragedies etc. The video visuals could really spark a great dialogue as well. The song for me has been my favorite from the 35 sec clip we got weeks ago. It still is.

I don't think everyone will respond the same way (seeing some members on here having a meltdown about it is evidence already lol) but I think it will be positive overall. I agree, I think it should be a single not just because it's such a good song but the message and importance behind it. It would be a great conversation piece in our culture. Sizzily 14,543
I bet some of BLM people on twitter will dismiss her as a "white savior" for it. But it has a good meaning so they can think whatever, idc. Tears in the rain
TopDomBoy 1,182
Id prefer the song being about everything that bring us down in our world, no sticking to one cause or another... "I confess I am lost, in the age of the social" Age of the social=world. All monsters are human, you are a monster.

To bring the global community together on various issues, but it is significant that she specifically mentioned what was stated in the OP. She probably was sparked to write the song when she turned on the news and saw what happened to him.
Edonis 28,950
I'm also genuinely curious how non- American/Canadian (they have similar vocal members in BLM) monsters view the song after reading what she said about the meaning. How does most of the world view BLM and Gaga's inclusion in the movement?

Especially If she decides to really get graphic, I think the dialogue should continue. Continue to make everyone uncomfortable. Acknowledge the issues and find a solution which is true peace and respect for all. 3 minutes ago, Sister Jude said: Id prefer the song being about everything that bring us down in our world, no sticking to one cause or another... "I confess I am lost, in the age of the social" Age of the social=world. I agree and disagree to an extent. I'm all for love for everyone but Gaga herself specifically said the song was inspired by the Trayvon Martin shooting. Also the killings of unarmed citizens, especially youth in this case, is an issue that shouldn't be swept under the rug. But the visuals for the videos can reflect all things wrong going on in the world. So that's where I agree with you.

Lol! Sometimes people really have no filter at all, but that's the internet and I believe one of the rules. SKANK 14,288
There will be fanatics who will dismiss her for writing a song about Trayvon Martin because she is white, just as there are fanatics who don't think she is queer enough to write songs about LGBT Rights. But they are just fanatics. I'm glad she wrote Angle Down. She is amassing a great little collection of protest anthems; Born This Way tacked LGBT rights, Americano was about immigration, Till It Happens To You about rape on college campuses, Nature Boy is about the Wandervogel movement, and now Angle Down an anthem for the BLM movement. Brian Ryan 1,468
LMFAO. Say what? I'm black and I'm lost. No one gives a **** about this song but Gaga and monsters. At least, it will get people talking. I doubt this will happen though.
