Theres still another 25+ reviews to come . And the the bigger/more influential the publication is the higher they contribute to the average e.g NME/Rolling Stone/Pitchfork/Billboard, who usually stan anything she puts out (unless its ARTPOP :ladyhaha: ).

I think she'll probably get around 70 or 75 if shes lucky since she gonna get dragged down by the inevitable pop hater critics (and she clearly aint paying for overly positive reviews like someone whos name begins with B :ladyhaha: )

I honestly dont get it. Can someone explain to me what is wrong with this album that its getting so many mixed/bad reviews? I feel like its her best work to date.

OMG this. I do understand that there are shortcomings in the sound and the perspective adopted for this album, but it surely can't be bad enough to warrant it a 58% overall (albeit so far). :duck:

Then again, I have spoken to a number of close friends whom I have asked for honest opinions of Gaga's new sound. Some things said include "she should stick to being Gaga", "Perfect Illusion isn't that great", "Perfect Illusion is trash", "Joanne is trash". And to no surprise, they love the modern, uncharacteristic and trendy-sounding hits like Drake's discography, Calvin Harris' songs, Closer and Work. Yet, I don't blame them for not liking Joanne at all, because I feel like they have been primed to think those sounds are the baseline of today's music. Anything that deviates from the status quo will be judged more harshly. As the adage goes, people tend to condemn what they don't choose to understand.

I have questions darlins, but I din't know if these are things that any of yall mightve looked into... So what's the standard way for a critic to listen to an album? Is there even a set standard? Like, do they use headphones? Do they only listen to an album a single time? Is their first time hearing the singles through the album or through their own releases as singles? Cuz I will say that, as much as I adore the album now, I felt weird about it on the first listen tbh.

We are talking about pop music, it's not that serious. Just avoid finding excuses for the bad reception the album is having

Yeah, I know it's not serious. :laughga: I wasn't finding excuses...instead, I was attempting to rationalise why the album has been met with mixed reception. The point I was making was that the type of sound Joanne went for didn't resonate with many listeners these days probably because they are used to a certain type.  :crossed:
