Metacritic scores nor Chart success equal Grammys but sometimes it influences it. I like Beyoncé but I honestly don't think it deserves Album of The Year. I can picture Beyoncé looking for words to change so she gets writing credits. Also, both Beyoncé and Beck's albums were critically acclaimed.

Edit: And as some other guys have said, black women have won Grammys in the past.

Obviously, Beyoncé could build a house with her grammys, but album of the year tho? (I'm really asking, I have no idea!)

Let's be honest: Beyoncé only has a lot of Grammy's because she is nominated to R&B sections and she has no competition there. Everyone knows Beyoncé is a Pop Singer but she keeps getting nominations to R&B and she has no competition there, therefore she always comes with at least one Grammy on her hands. If Beyoncé was nominated in the Pop section from the very beginning she would have 1/3 of her Grammys or less.

Bye. Don't hate me to spill the tea. :rockstar:

Thanks! I saw a post somewhere with screenshots and links that Beck's album only got like a 71 on metacritic, thank you for setting the record straight! My bad.

It is ok :)

No tea spilled... Beyoncé sings R&B. Not Pop.

But I don't think they'll give a black woman album of the year. Especially when it's half about black empowerment.

Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is about black identity and empowerment :nails: it's one thing to say "the grammies are biased against african american" (which no one denies) ... but to say that they've never awarded a seminal album by a black artist - that's just not true. Beyonce didn't invent the genre

Maybe his label didn't do that cos he was being sleazy with that surprise release without their knowing after they were being patient all these years and funding those projects he was doing, it got his label really pissed, so maybe that's why they are not on his side now.

Then wondering why UMG had to sent the company wide e-mail disallowing exclusive deals for their artists after that album got released :oprah:

Because Endless was released under UMG (he had a two album deal) and he tricked UMG into setting up an Apple Exclusive campaign for a 40 minute video album with 50% of it being silence and him sitting around.

And the actual album was released under his label. UMG might have seen that as dxck move tbh. :ladyhaha:

He may have avoided it on purpose... Being a "Grammy darling" is often a curse for future success, especially for an artist like him who needs to retain some street cred to keep his edge. And the Grammy's would have undoubtedly showered him with awards.

Also, Beyonce may have called and said "don't even try it, bitch."

Beyonce' does pop and R&B...

Anyway, I wish he put in. I'm here for Black male R&B/Urban singers scoring more grammies...
