jcOMFG 219
Lady Gaga presents: JOANNE LIVE! The tour would be basically a very loose musical with occasional interactive segments with the audience. The plot follows singer-songwriter Lady Gaga in an alternate universe where she never became famous and simply continued making music and playing small venues such as bars and pubs. She discovers an emotional letter written by her late aunt Joanne for her hypothetical unborn daughter. Gaga is moved by the letter and sets out to live the life her aunt was unable to. What follows is an abridged and highly stylized montage of her musical career and highlights her hits as well as new songs. The climax of the show sees Gaga finally booking "America's Biggest Stage" (a subtle reference to the Super Bowl) and performing a massive number with lots of pyrotechnics and other references to her Super Bowl performance. Setlist Spoiler Diamond Heart Grigio Girls MANiCURE Telephone (Stripped Back version) Million Reasons Sinner’s Prayer Angel Down Dance In The Dark (Stripped back Version) Joanne Just Dance (Acoustic piano first verse and chorus, becomes album version after) The Fame (ID Remix) Poker Face Paparazzi I Want Your Love (contains elements of “Bad Romance” and “Judas”) Bad Romance Dancing’ In Circles Alejandro Scheiße vs. Government Hooker vs. BJ†AF (DJWS Mugler Remixes) Born This Way Come To Mama The Edge of Glory You and I Electric Chapel (contains elements of “Heavy Metal Lover”) Scheiße Stache (contains elements of “Princess High” and “Aura”) Applause ARTPOP Venus G.U.Y. John Wayne (contains elements of “Mary Jane Holland”) Gypsy Speech Fly Me To The Moon Just Another Day Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) Queen of Peace (Hot Chip Remix) Hey Girl Perfect Illusion A-Yo The first half of the show would be driven by new music with some classics sprinkled in, and then the tour through her career would feature her biggest hits complimented by occasional new songs. The beginning of the show showcases Gaga's acting, with several monologues and interactions with other actors, but not breaking the fourth wall and sticking to a general script. Then after finding the letter, Gaga increasingly breaks the fourth wall and interacts with the audience more and more as the show morphs from a musical to a concert. In terms of set design, think of pieces slightly more fleshed out than those used in TMB, with different locations having totally different sets; think Gaga meets Broadway. Some examples include the streets of New York, a billiards bar, the attic of her parents' house, simplified (or original) sets from her iconic performances, and a desert set reminiscent of the Perfect Illusion video. The interludes during set changes would feature behind-the-scenes videos of Gaga spliced in with old family footage. She would kick off the tour in the USA in March, and play dates in North America, UK & Europe, Central and South America, South Africa, India, South Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. After her final show in Sydney, she would re-release the album bundled with more bonus tracks and a DVD of the tour. TLDR: "JOANNE LIVE!" is a musical/concert hybrid with Broadway-like sets and Gaga telling the story of how she became famous in honor of her late aunt's memory. It features all the songs from the new album and lots of classics as well. It would be an international tour and eventually be recorded and released bundled with the album's re-issue. PS. I might edit this post with more fleshed-out ideas if I get bored later
