It's a softening of her image after rattling too many people with her last album, and has a more personal, intimate sound. I think Joanne will be considered one of her best albums, but it won't be deemed a progressive sound like Ray of Light. I think its going to be an amazing album, but the genre change is so drastic and sudden I can imagine a lot of commentators are going to have problem with it. I think it will however prove to certain publications (NME, Pitchfork, all those "we decide what albums are cool sites") that Gaga is much more than a top 40 pop artist/wannabe madonna Look at the critical reaction to Kylie's Impossible Princess, it's a drastic genre change for Kylie that got mixed reviews originally but is held in high regard now Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
