C3C is slated to be a cover of Cole Porter songs though. I doubt the industry will still be kind/appreciative of her if her only foray into jazz is singing covers. She either needs to come up with her own material for people to take her jazz as an actual project and not just a side-line, or deliver strongly with her main effort so she can remain just covering jazz on the side.

There'll be enough people who don't mind that, don't trust me? Try visit local record store next time, and name how many non instrumental Jazz artists in Jazz aisle who doesn't record covers, pretty sure you'll be able to count them by the fingers.

Tony himself have been recording covers for awhile now, and don't think Jazz audience give him a way just because he is a legend, they'd still wish for new songs from a legend actually. But Jazz listeners doesn't work that way. They have their own standards and they don't mind covers, reintepretation of classics by different artists. There are too many versions Summertime and Girl from Ipanema out there, and it is still selling!

And by the way, C2C is still Top 10 albums in iTunes Jazz albums list, I have no doubt the next venture with Tony still be appreciated.

To be honest, I kind of WANT it to flop. For her sake.

If she's getting massive hits and becomes the IT girl again.. she won't be treated the way she wants everyone to treat her... like an actual human being. It won't erase her fame but make it even worse.

I've been thinking of the sentence, "Lady Gaga needs to die", in a sense that the whole shebang needs to stop for her to be happy. I know she herself is to blame for creating the persona and for creating this image that makes her look like an otherworldly goddess.. but she's getting the short end of the stick now (or has grown out of her old life) and she hates it. She isn't suited for this lifestyle so the only way she can have a normal one the way she wants to.. is to ERASE her fame and just disappear.

She doesn't need to be "saved", she doesn't need any more critical acclaim, she doesn't need fair weather fans, she has enough money.

All she needs is her friends, family and the ability to make music.. even if it's just at her own home.

Bottom line.. she's been talking about erasing her fame, she's been saying "call me Joanne" because I believe she doesn't want to be Lady Gaga anymore and she wants to be just one of us so to achieve that.. her career needs to disappear. Simple.

P.S this isn't a well thought out post at all and might not really make sense to some.. it's just what I've been feeling for the last couple of days. If there's anything I overlooked then I'm sorry. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Radio Ga Ga

She will never really run outta money, so she probably won't stop releasing music. Even if she decided to buy 10 mansions in malibu, she would end up earning that money back with her tours

But what if it's also a critical flop? :oprah:

Even ARTPOP, her so-called "worst" album, was met with mixed-to-positive reviews. I can't imagine that Joanne will fare worse.

If it flops well then it flops. This new era doesn't care, and I love it.

Her record label will force her to do mainstream music again.

Not really unless she signed with them again. Joanne is her last album with interscope.

Yes, she has a 5 albums deal.

Plenty of artists that had consecutive 'flop' albums are still making music and pushing their work. I don't think the success of Joanne will influence much in that regard. Hell, it might push her to even greater artistic peaks if she no longer feels the burden of being commercially successful.
