When you're involved with every part of the creative process if you're working on something you don't truly feel every part invested in the results are half hearted and lacklustre. She single-handedly changed the sound of mainstream pop in 2008 with the Fame and again in 2009 with The Fame Monster. Born This Way started the "love yourself" trend of pop songs, along with bringing back the use of the saxophone to mainstream and dance music. Born This Way remains ahead of it's time. ARTPOP brought ART to the forefront, the TRUE reverse of Warholian pop-art expedition And Joanne is going against the grain of what's on the radio, like she has done every single album. She's bringing pop music infused with folk/rock/country and presenting it to the mainstream. Whether the GP picks up the sound like they did with her first three albums is not up to her.
