The more she stresses the "Hey I'm looking normal and making music that's human now!" The more forced it feels. It feels like a reaction to ARTPOP's backlash.  

She said she doesn't make things to be trendy, but then why does her new direction look like an attempt to pander to white bread Americans? It's seems like she's lost confidence in her otherworldly performance art. Lost her nerve and wants to cater to the public now. 

Of course I may be jumping the gun it's possible Gaga will surprise us. I'm sure she has to consider NFL rules. I just don't have hope right now. I don't mean to meltdown. I'm generally positive, just honest feelings.

What she said as always are so ambiguous, I am not sure what these meltdown were about?

I'll just wait and see what she is going to do for Half Time. I know I will enjoy it either way since I have enough music references not to be set back by any genres.

Almost no one knows that PI is out tbh. Literally, no one outside the stan world has heard about it + the song is a huge grower. It took me around a week to like it...she needs a HUGE plataform to perform it; and now she has it.

I do agree with the OP, those expecting to see Gaga drop out of the sky from a UFO singing Poker Face while glitter and laser lights shower the crowd are probably going to be disappointed. BUT, that does not mean she's not going to absolutely ROCK IT.

I think the best example of what she's aiming for is Prince. Who was another artist expected to go completely over the top. But he showed restraint and focused instead simply on the music. And yet, to this day, it is praised as one of the greatest half time shows of all time, because it was first and foremost about the music. 

 

But Gaga's songs are much more electronic, not rockish; Gaga also can't play guitar like Prince does. 

Moreover, Gaga's old hits are full of hooks that would sound bad in a rock mix of those songs. I would like her to pull a Prince but Gaga's musical catalogue makes it kinda impossible.
