I respect your opinion, OP. Personally I enjoy Perfect Illusion, just as I did upon first listen earlier this month. Do I think it's her best song? No. But it doesn't suck nearly as much to me as one of two of her other singles.

Gaga is not catering anymore to radio or to please anyone as a matter of fact. She knows that whatever she does, it will compared to BR and PF and that it won't be to par. She's lived fame and its downfall (monster). Now she's making a record that speaks to herself. She knows she has a core fan base that will buy her record, support her and go see her live. She doesn't give a **** about disappointed and critical people. She's smart, she's matured, she's content. I think she wants to discontinue making music but didn't want ARTPOP to be the lasting memory from her discography so she made a personal record that will probably be well received by critics but not the general public. I think that's why she's not too bothered about promotion or anything.

I never thought about that, but it makes sense. It would be a fitting end to her discography, but then again i don't see her giving up on music so early in life; she's only 30

True, but I think its better to have a short lived but impactful career rather than draw it out for years with mediocre releases, who knows to be fair.
