Serisouly, she's no where near of Michael./ She can be an important part of your life. as Gaga is in mine but that doesn't make her more iconic than Michael. If they are at the same level, why Michael is still doing more than $100 million a year? Why his worst selling album alive sold 11 million? And after dead he managed to sell more than a million copies and scored a Top 10 on the Hot 100? They're not on the same leve and Madonna is not more iconic than him. No one can top him, NEVER. Blocking Buzzfeed for the health of my mind. Iconic and commercial success are a bit different despite being partially connected Iconic has more to do with impact and critical aclaim. Success does help impact but numbers alone dont always mean anything

I wasnt debating WHO is more iconic i was replying to the figures I was being shown. I was merely saying numbers alone dont prove anything regardless of who it is Commercial success is merely 1 factor of many for iconicness
E24187 615
It really depends on who you ask. Madonna's attitude and persona turns people off so they'll say Michael out of spite. Micheal wasn't without his share of controversies (pedophillia accusations, skin color changing, plagiarism) so people will say Madonna out of spite. The one block Madonna has was people associating her with the gays which made her look like a niche artist (don't quote me, I know very well she isn't). Michael transcended boundaries more consistently. Idk, you could easily say they are the same level.
dlioncourt91 765
Can't people credit both without tearing down the other. Michael is and will always be iconic. While he had his personal issues which people will always disagree upon, the man indeed was a visionary. He was a brilliant business man who knew how to save himself and others from record companies owning everything which is why for a long time many wanted him dead and to sale since he owned rights to many songs which no one expected he'd do. He had tremendous impact on music, videos, fashion, dance etc and in every form of the word, a music legend for the rest of time. Madonna is a self-made success story right down to her constant hunger to be someone. From a small town, performing in clubs in NYC to a two demo tape, she became a star by struggling and over the course of three plus decades, became a legend. Her movies may be terrible and her voice is always under scrutiny but where other acts fall into nostalgic/greatest hits act territory, Madonna has never stopped bringing something whether it's a hit or miss with the general public. For years she was the top female in a male dominated society and challenged how women were viewed which is why she's always been a polarizing act in pop music. Whether you hate or love her, her impact and influence in the world will never be forgotten no matter what journalist, fan base or music channel tries to say. You may diminish relevance but you can never erase legacy. Michael and Madonna are both equally iconic for many reasons and the fact Buzzfeed made this article was for click baiting and incite fan wars against people who still see MJ as a pedophile and those who generally want to discredit/erase Madonna. Monster2015 1,117
honestly MJ is WAY more iconic than Madonna. I think MJ would've still continued his "iconicism" had he still been alive.

GlitterAndGrease 594
MJ is much more iconic than madonna. He was the one artist almost everyone loved no matter if they were guys or girls, straight or gay, black or white, young or old
