I think she said "manly tears" because it's her own father's pride and ego who would have wanted her to say that. Perhaps he's a strong man who wants to project a certain image. Crying can be seen as a weakness in Italian families.

i understand that.  i wish people all over the world would just accept that everyone cries and theres nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to display and expressing honest emotions :/ you know?

The "manly cries" part was unnecessary imo. However - I don't think she consciously meant any harm or displayed any malice. It takes a lot of time and effort to unlearn ingrained sexism. If Gaga's music is any indicator, she is very progressive. She'll reach there. So will the whole world, one day. That's my sincere hope.

On your way to becoming the new Zarna Joshi? PC warriors have since the dawn of time exaggerate every little thing by attaching it with labels like sexism, racism, feminism etc, but labelling in itself is offensive to PC culture which denies all sorts of labelling :laughga:.

The truth about PC people is that they are not champions of minorities. They are using it as an offensive weapon against the public just to feel better about themselves.

I'm too tired to assess whether your arguments actually have a point to them. I'm sure you're very passionate about gender equality rights and similar issues, but for god's sake you ARE looking way too deep into this.

We need to draw a line between being insensitive towards other, and being TOO sensitive towards trivial matters. I personally find no offense from Gaga's statement. I'm a guy who cries, and I do it alone because it's embarrassing to do it while the world is watching because it's 'not manly' enough. I DO feel disappointed in myself and society in general for this attitude, but it IN NO WAY means we have to scrutinize EVERYTHING a person says just because their words might have negative implications.

Changing a person's word might not do anything to fix this problem of gender stereotypes. You wanna fix it? Write an essay and get it published, or direct a short film on the subject. Just don't point at people and say how wrong they are because they won't listen. Point at THE ISSUE and tell people how wrong that issue is.

It's why in journalism they teach you not to call an illegal immigrant...well...an "illegal immigrant"; you would call them "a person residing in the country illegally. Why, you may ask? It's so that you don't sound like you are condemning the person, but rather condemning the action they are committing.

Unless someone is doing/saying something that DIRECTLY affects another person or group's life so badly that they feel disadvantaged then there is no reason we need to raise unimportant issues.

There are other matters in the world that are costing people's lives, and I'm not saying gender stereotypes is a trivial subject, but it is compared to A LOT of things going on in the world that people are DYING for.

If you can be a spokesperson for gender issues then by all means do your thing, but criticizing someone who has already fought so much for LGBTQ rights and human rights in general. The only thing that really captures my attitude right now is "Really, bitch?"

TL;DR Everything in bold has the gist of what I'm trying to say.

I honestly think she lost some of her women power. When describing being in the studio she mentioned how mark and the others didnt treat her differently because she was a woman. That is a GOOD thing, but I feel that her "Im a strong woman and I dont give a .... " attitude has been lost a little bit. Back in previous eras ( no shade towards this era) she wouldnt have even thought that (or expressed that thought) out of strength in her femininity (maybe shes just being more open) but something about how she assumed that because she is a woman that she would be treated differently in the studio just rubbed me the wrong way.

maybe its just an illusion,

A perfect illusion

People want change but they say things that work against it. I doubt she meant anything by it but as a grown woman and a social activist she really should refrain from saying those things, as should all of us.

Not related to Gaga, bottom shaming is another thing that is rampant in this community that needs to stop. It's not being offended or shook, it's demanding the respect we deserve.

The longer these things stick around the longer it's gonna take for everyone to be on an even playing field.

I'm aware of this and it needs to stop.  Saying like "have some balls" or "man up" are POLITICALLY INCORRECT.

They suggest power and dominance in the male gender only and do not support gender EQUALITY.

I think when Gaga said "manly cries", she was referring to the fact that they weren't full out crying because society conditions the male sex to believe that crying is not okay. If you actually took the time to understand what a manly cry refers to, you could have looked it up on Google images. Gaga meant this:

Screen-shot-2012-03-20-at-11.10.37-AM.pn

Also, I think Gaga is aware of the fact that saying "they have balls" is politically incorrect, and i'm more than 100% sure she thinks females can be brave too. OBVIOUSLY. So, to answer your question, no. Lady Gaga is not sexist.

However, I do see what your saying. It would be better off if people refrained from making sexist comments.
