Lady Gaga's Sexist Subtext

This, this is why Gaga no longer wants to be that meteor she once was. Everyone and every outlet criticizing every detail, every word, every small gesture. Stop analyzing everything for f*ck sake. She is just like you an I, why is she put on the spot every time she says or does anything. Enough is enough.

Lady peaceful, lady happy... that's what I long to be.

What's your favorite feminist book

What 'academic fields' other than feminism interest you? Probably none. Which is why those who do gender studies are IM capable of coming up with any solutions.

The fact that you think you have to identify as a feminist to believe in equitable treatment and come up with solutions for it shows you're drinking the SJW cool aid.

Feminists like to think they own a monopoly for believing in equal rights and forget that feminism is a political movement and ideology.. I can believe in equal rights and call myself a Libertarian or a humanist or whatever as I identify with their solutions and ideologies more because believing in equal rights can mean many things.

I dont have a favorite as I do not like them anymore.. I used to read Naomi Wolf books. I opened my eyes when I bought a feminist book by mistake that spoke against people like Naomi wolf and I was shocked.

You must understand it is not just gaga who mistakenly uses these phrases out of context.  It is more so about bettering society rather than bashing gaga.

The I made this thread is because Lady Gaga should be the one spreading a message that teaches people that men can cry and it does not need to be defended.  No one should be ashamed of expressing emotion regardless of sex.  It is the little remarks like hers in that video that do not help to erase this awful stigma towards the male genre and the expectations of being "man".

Do you think gaga meant it ironically "manly cries" mocking if you will the idea that men don't cry-cause they obviously do, she just said two of them were crying while she wasn't, that kinda makes it seem even more ironic too me. I guess it's subjective. Also fits in with her emotion revolution I think it was called  ideas.

I'm a software engineer, so I come up with solutions all day every day. And I was an international policy major, so yes, I have a few ideas outside feminism.

You're getting into flame/insult territory, which I'm not interested in. You win, you're right on all fronts. Bye wig.

She wants to respect her father who grew up in a different time. Obviously she's going to respect him in the way she talks. Not only that but ways of speaking sticks with people their whole life. Of course I still associate the saying "grow some balls" as meaning "be strong/don't be a wimp," if people were PC all the time there wouldn't be anything to say. Plus people don't have to be PC, they are free to say what they want.

Solutions to the problems they identify, I should of said. I am sure the problems you deal with don't fall into the remit of the problems feminists believe plague society, but computer programs. I concede it was my fault for not being clearer. Gender studies and feminism as an ideology and field identifies issues but comes up with invalid solutions. Hence I don't identify as one.

Very nebulous, thank you for the vagueries. I'm no longer looking for specific facts from you, just pseudo-intellectual, semi-insulting arguments based on literally nothing. You are ignorant and your opinions are unworthy of discussion.

I've already stated that equal pay doesn't work hence feminists push invalid solutions to problems. You proposed it as a solution yourself, much to my pleasure as it proves my point. . Sad thing is your ignorance will hurt women if your pseudo solutions like equal pay and positive discrimination continue to gain traction. And you think you're  helping them. It's a great shame. Anyway, continue virtue signalling and making the life's of women harder, all the while, calling others ignorant and blaming them. Laughable. Oh and the source of my ignorant opinion on your invalid solution to the equal work pay gap:

section 3.3 explains how the market drives out discriminating firms

hopefully not too nebulous.

If people were PC all the time then people would actually be saying what they mean.  When u tell someone to grow a pair you don't literally mean that, perhaps you mean toughen up.  So, no, if people were always PC then all the right things would be said.  No misunderstands or anything...perhaps rethink what you just said my friend LOL:hug:

and listen, I do understand we're all free to say what we like, but dont you think the society would be a bit nicer if the things we said were a bit nicer??? Just maybe??? That's all I'm fighting for.

but what really counts is in her daily interactions.

Oh my. Yes, I'm sorry. I had no idea. I had no privy to her daily interactions which are comprised of regular and frequent use of the phrases "manly tears" and "grow some balls". If I had access to those interactions just like you I would have known better. Gaga is so fake with her Born This Way preaching. I hate her now.

OH SHUT UP. If Justin, or Katy, or Miley run ANYONE ELSE MADE SUCH A LIGHTHEARTED JOKE YOU WOULD ALL COME FOR THEM.

SOOOOOO OVER this Fanbases double-standardised, bitchy and non-substantial counter arguments to any thread that DARES oppose Lady Gaga.

Except they wouldn't? And if they did it would be a joke.

Literally, people aren't defending Gaga here because it's her, they're defending her because you're being ridiculous. Sexism is a horrible thing when it's actually malicious or just used to speak downt to or poorly of a gender but the joke about 'manly cries' was clearly her poking a little bit of fun at a moving moment between herself and two people she cares a great deal about. If this really offends you that much, I think you need to grow up just a little bit, it's not like she said that men are pathetic if they cry.
