Yes, but most all people are sexist, racist, etc. to some extent :emma:

私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

"balls" is the exact same thing as "bravery", its just a more slanged up version. She didn't mean it literally:interestinga:

I know you did not actually call me a girl and I also know its not sexist, im just acting like you making everything and anything sexist. If you still did not get it, I was basically making fun of you.

I did not use the video as my argument, I made an argument myself and used the video as something extra. If you dont believe whats in the video thats fine but you cant deny whats in my comment as its a fact. Also, if you believe gender is a social construct, then why do you only use that argument on straight people? I dont see you guys using that argument on transgenders or even gays!

I'm glad you've made a sweeping judgment about me after having read one of my posts. Seems fair.

And tbh, your argument was way worse than the video. At least the video cited something. Let's break it down:

Balls and bravery are linked together

Uh...wut? This is some Freudian level bullshit, essentializing male/female qualities based on our genitals. The human endocrine system is so ****ing complex, and male-female specific hormones aren't 100% responsible for any single behavioral quality. And, human male (since you don't like to be called girl), let me tell you: balls =/= bravery.

because men have extremely high testosterone while women have low testosterone

Technically true, women do have relatively less testosterone than men. Though again, testosterone alone isn't responsible for any behavioral qualities. Not to mention testosterone levels vary significantly among men based on genetic and environmental factors.

and that hormone is what makes men more dominant risk taking and brave

Lewl, as I said before. Unless you've got a source, I call bullshit.

This does not mean women are not brave but biologically, women are brave in different things that men are not capable of.

This is not an argument. Just a vague non-point that says nothing about anything.

I'm not even going to call you sexist. You're just wrong.

You are the one who made a judgment about me calling me a sexist so dont be shocked when I do the same thing to you.. I dont mind you making judgments about me though.

I did not say a specific hormone is 100% responsible for a single behavior in each gender, I just used one example which is the testosterone. When people use the word balls, it comes from culture making an observation about the sexes and using it in a shallow way but its still comes from a fact, not from sexism. Yes testosterone levels vary but the majority of men have high testosterone and its considered something that is related to men biologically and in animals too.

It is a fact that too much testosterone can make you very aggressive and risk taking and always wanting to be dominant with high sex drive thats why too much testosterone is not good and too little of it can leave you depressed.. you can simply google it, I dont know what source will satisfy you.

I do not believe gender is a social construct but if you believe that, then that means transgenders are mentally ill and gays were not born gay as we were told.

Kermit the frog

She seems to think in stereotypical categories, that is true. Sad for a woman who proclaims gender equality.

I did notice her mention some slightly problematic gender binary things during the latest promo.

She feels good fitting into a certain stereotype, I believe. Of an Italian-New York woman, a daddy-girl who loves to cook for men.

It's ok if she's fine with it but it's irresponsible for her to perpetuate stereotypes like that.

But there ARE differences between genders. If there aren't, then that suggests being transgender is pointless because there are no differences between the genders. Like....why would you need to change your gender if there was no difference between them?

Not to mention the fact that it doesn't need to be stopped because people can say whatever they want. If you're confident in yourself, have pride, then who cares what others think or say?

Dude... of course there are differences, but he meant SOCIAL differences, NORMATIVE differences - not biological ones :smh:

First world problems.

Famine, wars, diseases, genocides, Syria, Palestine, Africa, Black Lives, US presidential elections.

Those matter much more than gender equality. WAKE UP.

Umm if you looked into gender inequality you would see that women are also further disadvtaged in humanitarian crisis like you just mentioned. We need gender equality to help all of what you listed

Guys, I don't think the OP opened this thread to diminish Gaga's outstanding work in any way, it remains untouched what she did, I think most on here will agree. But it's also allowed to mention that Gaga herself has always come across as a conservative progressive imo. Compare her to upcoming artists in pop culture and even the hip-hop scene, she is definitely way more tamed than them, way less potential for revolution. Something about her demeanor always had this old-school quality to it (at least what she shared with the world, we don't know her personally which is good lol). And thus her own gender conception and the way she expresses herself is rooted in quite old gender norms that society is slowly overcoming recently. Like I said, I'm not diminishing Gaga's great efforts and successes for equality, but if it's not allowed to discuss that interesting combination of attributes without someone screaming "omg SJW and tumblr deSTROY thE World lEt's VOTE 4 TRUmp!!1" then I really don't know why y'all signed up for a forum

Gaga isn't very educated in social justice/feminism/racism at all. So yeah. This is what I expect from her. Nothing terrible but nothing groundbreaking.

Great discussion guys!!  Glad to see there are some like minded...however, terrified that there are many who seem to not care about the future of gender equality and breaking the stereotypes
