KURUSHITOVSKA 20,451
Of course she promoted Lemonade, she released a song dissing her husband, that's the way she promotes her music. ¿Qué currículum tiene ésta tarántula?
GagaXCupcakke 3,818
The lemonade movie was released on HBO, debuting right before the season premier of Game of Thrones. Also HBO was free that day. That's massive promo

But comparing her to Gaga is pointless since Beyonce is in a lane that few artists get to be in. Gaga needs to promote traditionally because A) she's not as popular & B) she's been away for so long. Not to mention that Gaga's image has always been more polarising, especially since she stopped being "cool". She has to work for it. It may seem that Bey's last two albums weren't promoted as much, but the releases are so gimmicky that the promo creates itself. Releasing a video for every song in one go isn't zero promo. Having it plastered all over social media isn't zero promo. Performing at the Super Bowl isn't zero promo. Having intense focus on digital services isn't zero promo. Etc etc. This post probably comes across as anti-Bey because of the nature of standom but it's not lol, anyone who knows me knows that I love her. But I just find it weird when people say she isn't promoted. Promotion doesn't exclusively mean television performances. I agree to a certain extent. I do believe there is promo around Beyonce but let's be honest, that is not why Beyonce is so popular. Gaga could do the same thing and wouldn't have the same success. Network Marketing (word of mouth) is what's keeping Beyonce relevant. He fans hype her up and her music backs them up. Also she knows how to get people talking without saying a word but by creating conversation inducing songs (i.e. "he better call becky with the good hair" had everyone talking). And I would go into why Gaga as much of as a force but a lot of little monsters will get butt hurt especially since it applies to a lot of them. Lextyr97 19,873
Beyonce didn't even touch TFM's level of slayage, but I think she went through her "fame monster," era with Lemonade.
Guest
I think Bey didn't promote Lemonade cause she's a 'legend' apparently so she don't need to do that **** anymore

In fact what you just said is my entire point. Which is why I said Beyonce's in her own lane and OP comparing this to Gaga is pointless. Beyonce has created this incredible image for herself and has the fanbase to not only back it up, but further it. This literally creates promo for herself whenever she does... well, anything. I was actually going to include a paragraph in my post about how this wouldn't work for most artists - including Gaga. That's why Beyonce and her team have it down so perfectly, imo. They created a lane for her that no one else exists in. In a market where there is countless ways of releasing and promoting, there isn't one model that works for everyone. Like I say, very few artists (I'm actually struggling to think of more than two) could do it nearly as well as Bey.

The fact Gaga was promoted heavily in the past does not mean it was the main reason for her success. I think we all just want to see her perform live again somewhere so we make excused of "do more promo!!" while truthfully, the music and visuals should be enough. Maybe the reason Perfect Illusion is falling is simply because it's either not good enough or it just doesn't touch alot of people. A great release will grow by itself. If you don't consider a 90-minute film event on HBO (on a day the premium channel is free), that will subsequently ONLY be released to Tidal before becoming available for download on iTunes promotion...then I honestly don't know what is... Yes, you're right but the thing is that she already had a great career BEFORE Lemonade. Beyoncé doesn't promote her album like other artists, she promotes "Beyoncé" (herself) / her image .So comparing her promo with Gaga is not really fair. I think it's kinda smart , you don't hear a lot her singles on radio, no interviews anymore (keeping mysteries) , no tv appearrances (besides big events) etc and yet, she seems omnipresent. If she'd do more , people will be saturated. Gaga was everywhere 2010-2011 , like EVERYWHERE , it was too much. People was kinda sick of her at the end because of that. That's why I think the way Gaga is promoting rn is the best way to be back at the top again, STEP BY STEP.
