Then they got convicted for people smuggling and got a fine of 45,000 krone (£5,200. They appealed their sentence, but the High Court in Denmark increased the penalty to 50,000 krone (£5,700) on Thursday. Denmark has been one of the messiest EU members (together with the UK, Poland and Hungary) for some time now so I can't say this surprises me.
