Lady Gaga is not an alter ego. Lady Gaga is REAL. Stefani IS Gaga, why are people trying to separate the two?

We've seen how insanely minimalistic, raw and stripped back this "era" has been so far.

I think you've answered your own question.

The video may be minimalist, but she still looks like a crazy person. Of course, I mean that in the best way possible. :)

It's not. It's her! She was as genuine in Marry The Night / Bloody Mary, as she is now in Perfect Illusion. She sang jazz as Lady Gaga, she acted as Lady Gaga, she's done charity work and The Born This Way Foundation as Lady Gaga.

She is being herself, think of it more like a nickname, not a character. She said that even close people call her Gaga.

Watch and learn...  from 39:30 - 43:00 ...
Is something she created, of course is still being her, cause is her persona, soul, mind and heart...shes now on a more personal era, but still being Stefani Joanne...aka Lady Gaga.

PS: her close people and family call her "Stef".

If anything its more appropriate than ever. For years, she was Gaga. Then we finally got/saw Lady (CTC etc) and now we finally see a mix of the two. She doesn't need to make a dress out of what ever she finds in the butcher and an art store to be labelled as 'lady gaga'. It's about who she is, how she acts, what message she portrays. Is the lead single from Joanne a jazz song? is the album Jazz? Is she wearing glamorous outfits? No, No, and No.

People need to learn that she needs to evolve as an artist and that is exactly what she is doing

Maybe I'm just over thinking things but it almost seems weird to see the name "Lady Gaga" attached to this era considering its described as insanely personal, and about her dead aunt.

Remember this?

tweeted in 2015, around the time she news working with Redone and Mark Ronson wasn't even in the picture. She evidently had a whole different era planned befote meeting Mark in 2016. Gosh I really wish I was a fly on the wall during those sessions with Red :madge:

I feel like what we're getting right now is an album from Stefani, not Lady Gaga.

The features and elements of "Gaga" we grew up to love are gone this era. No performance art, no theatrics, no avant garde fashion, no major iconic moments as of yet, basically nothing that screams "Gaga"

I honestly believe she should revoke her stage name and become Stefani again. Especially if this is an image revamp that is more permanent as opposed to just this era alone.

Who knows tho? This is just my opinion and y'all are free to either agree or disagree in a rational manner.

Perhaps "Gaga" will return in 2020 just in time for LG6? :green:

Let's see where this thread goes :oprah:

Honest opinion, that's what we need from Monsters. analogically, It's like the person that you in love with, with all the traits, personality and looks, suddenly she changed to become a totally different person, one that you never know.

For the album that she planned with RedOne last year, I do think she got it scraped because of Mark Ronson. Well, that's what you get, Perfect Illusion.

I mean her "Lady Gaga" is on the album cover.

Gaga shouldn't be equated to "pop/mainstream". The name can mean anything. :D

Exactly. She'll always be gaga because that's who she is at the core. Just because she isn't wearing meat dresses and quirky outfits doesn't mean she's given up on who she is. Her outfits will always have a bit of "quirk" to them no matter how subtle because that's just who she is. She's still the same person who fights for equality and loves her monsters more than life itself. She just happens to be wearing different "packaging" now but the present is still the same if that makes sense

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

Lol exactly. I'd get so many weird looks if I tried to pull off her looks lol. Lol whenever I go home to New York for the holidays, my friends and I always blast marry the night while we're getting ready. I still wear my leather and fishnets because I love them lol. Gaga can wear leather and fishnets in NYC and nobody says a word. I wear the same thing and I get asked 100 times in an hour "how much do you charge?" Lol

She will always be Lady Gaga, even if she doesn't look like the same Lady Gaga from 2008, or 2013. Like all of us, there are many sides to her personality. We shouldn't sell ourselves short and declare that we must only have one version of ourselves. The truth is that there are many possible versions of ourselves. Nothing about who we are is constant - except for change. We change all the time. We change who we are around different people. Change our plans. Change our rules. Change everything. It's who we are. In fact we face conflict and inner turmoil when we stop trying to change. We need change.

This may be a new, raw Lady Gaga (without wearable meat), but she is still Lady Gaga nonetheless.

It's just a stage name, geez...and it's so appropriated: is there anything more "Gaga" than having the balls to do a complete 180...?

If anything, I wish her music was also more understated (and I'm judging only by PI, since I didn't hear the album)...that's the only area I think she's still "stuck" in the past (and I don't say that to put PI down, the song grew on me a lot, but it's still way too similar to what she did in the past)...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.
