That's the most common Urban myth about Hillary Clinton: That she joyfully helped a rapist escaping justice.

Facts are:

Hillary Clinton was a 27-year-old lawyer to be with no experience when she was assigned the case. She literally was the rapist's court-assigned defandant and had no other option but to defend him. That's how being a lawyer works. Otherwise she would have lost her job, damaged her reputation and ENSURED she would never be able to find work as a lawyer again.

But let's look at the receipts from the Washington Post right?

On the recording, Clinton describes it as a “terrible case” and also “fascinating.” In her autobiography, “Living History,” Clinton wrote, “I told [prosecutor] Mahlon [Gibson] I really don’t feel comfortable taking on such a client, but Mahlon gently reminded me that I couldn’t very well refuse the judge’s request.” Gibson has confirmed that account in interviews with Newsday and CNN, saying Clinton told him: “I don’t want to represent this guy. I just can’t stand this. I don’t want to get involved. Can you get me off?”  (On the tape, Clinton says the prosecutor asked if she could take the case “a favor to him.”)

But that is not all, mind you! Clinton talked about this herself as well.

“Of course he [the defendant] claimed he didn’t [rape]. All this stuff. He took a lie detector test. I had him take a polygraph, which he passed, which forever destroyed my faith in polygraphs.” (Both Clinton and the reporter laugh)

Conclusion: She was forced to do her job in 1975, a time where it's highly probable that Clinton was assigned this case by her older male collegues as a means to freeze her out of the profession for good, which did not work.

Of course she's shady, every politician is. Barack Obama is shady, Bill Clinton is shady, hell even Bernie Sanders is shady. But people are obviously extra hard on Hillary Clinton for things they normally wouldn't lose sleep over, just because she's a woman. This is election is not about who's shady and who is not, this election is about anybody but white straight men potentially losing (some) their actual human rights under a Trump presidency.

Dehumanizing Clinton on the internet is not raising political awareness, neither is it a sign of levelheaded-ness or neutrality, it's playing right into the hands of Trump and shows a lack understanding of the seriousness of this issue, as well as showing a lack of empathy towards any group he plans to discriminate against.

Hillary was a public defender doing her job. She didn't rape anyone. Trump, on the other hand...
