Tokyo Rose 1,475
Just like Gaga had TF and TFM, so Adele had 19 and 21. I bet a lot of people genuinely didn't know who Gaga was before Bad Romance.

Lets just agree to disagree. But like I said, ask other Americans in this forum about Adele's fame pre-2011.

I say yes. The reason I am saying this is because Gaga transformed the music industry into a huge spectacle. From 2008-2011 Gaga dominated the music scene and brought electronic dance music, crazy fashion, epic music videos, and artistic performances to the mainstream. And I feel like by the end of the BTW era Gaga was very overexposed and she had saturated the GP with her over the top style. Then Adele suddenly appears with a simple image, ballads, and a great voice. In other words, Adele was the anti-Gaga and she seemed like a breath of fresh air to the GP. She was the escape to many people that wanted out of the "Weird, Crazy, Dance" era that Gaga had created in the music industry. Lets all remember that almost everyone wanted to be like Gaga. But in the end, Adele was the one that ultimately benefited from the over-saturation of Gaga's style in the music industry and ended the "Gaga era". Totally bs and unrelated. Adele make songs that people could relate and connect to. While Gaga been making songs just for her own sake that fans couldn't even relate. You got the answer. Quartz 12,535
I don't think so. I mean before Gaga, the industry was overrun with R&B. Considering her style was still quite different from R&B, she would have slayed regardless. Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

By 2011 the world had realised that there could only be one Gaga. So the music industry then tried to create the next anti-Gaga. Adele was perfect. She was Amy Winehouse but without the syringes. Similar to how Britney "created" Avril Lavigne in the early 2000s: a polar opposite.
