"PI is too loud and abrasive"

Many here often say, "PI is too loud, grating, and abrasive". And my response to this statements is that I agree. But I don't mean this in a bad way. PI has the energy and soul of a rock song; as rock songs are also usually loud and abrasive. These types of songs are supposed to be aggressive. I think the people that don't like PI's sound are most likely people that are only fans of pop music; specially the current type of pop music. Today's pop songs are simple, minimal, chill, and smooth. They are meant to be listened to whenever you are sitting down in front of a computer, in a car, while working on homework, or whenever you are in a calmed and relaxed state. PI can also be listened to in a calm state but the song is better suited for parties, clubs, and  arena and stadium shows. This is the kind of song to sing at the top of your lungs. I think people that are into rock will find PI pretty "normal" in terms of its energy. But at the same time I can see why pop only fans find this song grating.

My problem is why couldn't she/they let the instrumental shine more? The instr is dope and should be more audible :madge:

This. The instrumental is spectacular. I just wish you could hear it a little better.

It is very loud and very abrasive. PI should be appreciated for what it is, a rough-around-the-edges, burst-of-energy type jam. I'm excited to scream IT WASNT LAAAUUUUUUUUUUVVVVVVV at the Joanne Ball :rockstar: For real though, you're right and I think this is why it may not do too well on pop radio :poot:

Who cares, I think Joanne will have more pop-ish hits than PI.  The era is so young.

^ I agree with this. Instrumental should've been way louder on the track. I really don't understand why it's not.

I get what you're trying to convey - I personally thought it was abrasive the first couple of days, but then I dropped my preconceived expectations and now it's just an ear worm - I love it. I felt the same way when I first heard Born This Way - that one took a couple months to hit home for me.

Is it just me that finds it hard to hear the backing vocals in the bridge?

It did the first couple of days but I could swear that they turned them up a bit and re-uploaded the song - they sound much clearer to me now.

This rarely happens with a gaga song. I don't know why, but she seems to insist that her voice is non stop on. She doesn't let the melody breathe and express itself.. Maybe that's a character trait of always wanting to be on top of things, who knows.. But I would definitely appreciate some more instrumentals free of vocals here and there.

I love hard hitting raspy vocals and loud instrumentals, and I still think that PI is a bad executed song, so no.
