You sound delusional.

Why would she release the song following all the rules needed for charting? Why would she go on a bunch of radio stations to promote the song? Why would her management team pay for ads on iTunes, Spotify, Google Music, even on Microsoft Music's website? Why would she decide to work with one of the biggest names in popular music today (Mark Ronson)?

There's no reason to believe this song wasn't meant to chart and that she's just focusing on being an indie artist. I think that's just you anti-charters coming up with excuses for Gaga.

Sorry I'm not sorry.

Though I agree somewhat, I feel that Gaga herself doesnt really care about the charts, its her team and label that do

Other pop artists have bounced back on the charts but honestly, it's refreshing having an era where she may not be aiming to be #1 and just have some fun.

Honey that was her ARTPOP/cheek to cheek era... We don't need three in a row...

Where's the fun tho? :madge:

y'all are just exhausting.

of course she's promoting it, she's basically obligued to. doesn't mean she wrote the song for the charts nor that she wont be sleeping if she doesnt get a #1.

anyway, i hope you have fun when joanne "flops" because i'm sure gaga's had enough of pleasing people like you.

I sound delusional? You're speaking like she has much choice in doing these things. Nearly every promotional opportunity is arranged because the label demand to make money off their investment otherwise they will no longer fund her career. If she really wanted to make the music she wanted to make, she'd take her money and make her own music and release it but she doesn't.

I'm not saying this song was meant to flop or be a smash hit... sometimes it's neither. Gaga clearly wants to find some middle ground in what she makes otherwise we'd have another ARTPOP situation with an album that's desperately chasing past glories.

Not everything is black and white in the industry and the moment everyone drives it into their skulls that Gaga is not in control of everything we can finally have a normal conversation.

Um, she's the Fame Monster. Not the Indie Folk Monster.

lol, YOU say she's the fame monster.

to me, it looks like she's a happy musician doing the most of what she loves and trying to live her life. i don't really care though, i'm the one who's winning here.

DING DING DING.

At the end of the day, this is an industry, and Gaga is a part of this industry. And as soon as her label pulls the plug on her we can say bye bye to the Gaga we once loved.

ARTPOP was Gaga trying to get a hit. Early interviews paint a very different story about the album than the ones that followed after it's under performance.

Am I still delusional?

It's kind of obvious PI is pretty middle ground. If the label wanted a song that was going to be an easier #1 they would have blocked it from release and forced her to make something else.

Do they want PI to be successful, sure! Are they expecting a #1? Doubt it... I mean come on, it's not exactly the formula for a hit.

I think she's about to hit rock bottom. I think album and ticket sales are going to plummet and the public's interest will implode. Her label will be fed up with her **** and tell her she has to become profitable again or they will drop her and she will fall into a deep depression and realize that she really does love being a star. Then she will make a comeback with a Redone / DJWS / Diplo / Garibay produced pop/EDM/R&B album that will snatch the world to pieces - like Madonna's COADF. And I think this may happen sooner than we might expect.

She's always been very reactionary to her chart position. I don't believe ANYTHING she says in interviews, but I pay attention to the way she moves and speaks. She's interesting!

Yeah, she used to care a lot even when she said she didn't, probably still does! I just don't think she's expecting to go #1 cause even she must realise PI isn't really the kind of song that easily goes to #1.
