negativity surrounding gaga on music forums

sadly, lady Gaga will forever Be hated! People talked about her so much, and she blew up so fast that I would hate her too if she didn't make good music.  Sometimes people don't have any real explanation on why they hate someone. One of my coworkers hate Gaga because of the outlandish outfits she once worn. honestly, truly! You should never let someone persuade how you feel about someone regardless of how popular or not popular that person is. I'm a huge prince fan, people called prince a ******* and booed him off stage when he open for The Rolling Stones. He continued to do him and let the music speak for itself. That is how I believe Gaga is right now in her life

Unfortunately, ever since the BTW era, it has become an incredibly trendy thing to hate on Gaga. I can't really understand why, and it frustrates me at times too, because it feels very unjustified. I know that we tend to blame the ARTPOP era for this, but I must be honest, I don't actually think the music has had much to do with it.

I think that the commercial success of a song/album these days rests far more on the GP's perception and attitude towards the artist, than the quality of the song ('Work' is an example, amidst many others released recently that were chart smashers).

So I think Gaga is in an incredibly tough phase, where anything she releases is likely to be bashed by a handful of people because it's her, regardless of the quality of music. The only way this may change is if she collaborates with one of the currently 'in' artists that the GP lap up, which she isn't, and I respect her for not wanting to sell out to gain favor again.

Your expectations don't dictate whether or not PI is a good song.

Yes they do.

And the world agrees and it tumbles down the charts.

I mean if only I hated it, and everyone else loved it, (like TEOG, MTN, DWUW on here) I would swallow the bitter pill and be like fine, I don't like it but everyone else does, it's a good song I just don't get it. But to top it all off, not only I don't like it, neither does 95% of everybody else who listens to it. Even monsters say "it's okay but kinda lacking", there is a good reason why it's flopping everywhere. It does not deserve to perform better because it's a bad song and Gaga deserves the backlash for serving such a lacking product after such a long time. Because we all know what she is capable of - we all heard the great songs like Heavy Metal Lover, Starstukk, Gypsy even - and she needs to serve that sort of quality again because anything less is not acceptable after such a long wait.

This is so true. Everyone was waiting for her, most even rooting for her to finally get it right. If she released a good song the huge majority would be praising her. But no she had to go and screw it all up.

This. At least Ma Ma Pa Pa Pa had a structure :koons: PI is a repetitive mess and the song is literally over in 2 minutes and 20 seconds, the rest is just outro. She was propably like ARTPOP era again "let's make this short & radio friendly!" nope, didn't happen.

Except she didn't hype her single this time

Her lead singles were always really really good. And she had three years to work on it. Of course people were going to be insanely hyped for it.

Just don't act like the negativity is unwarranted. It is anything but.

I mean Gaga brought it upon herself. We NEED Gaga to slay us but she hasn't done it for years. She hyped ARTPOP as the greatest thing ever and she released the only good songs on it before the album dropped. Then she did Jazz and tributes or two years, and then she came back with the worst song of her career. Perfect Illusion was a total slap in the face. She deserves to be ridiculed for it.

Simple as this. Gaga in 2016 is not a top tier artist in any respect. Her commercial fall off is unprecedented yes, but so is her decline in musical ability and uniqueness as an artist. The fact that she was holed up in the studio with Kevin Parker and Mark Ronson, and this song that sounds barely any better than a DJWS demo was the best single they could muster? Completely embarrassing, and hearing her then go on the radio dozens of times and giving the same copy+pasted long-winded description of such a hilariously trite and basic song is even moreso.

The sheer irony of Gaga stans in 2016 having a superiority complex and thinking they have good taste. She's not producing better art than virtually any of her peers at this point (or should I say former peers?) :air:

Because she canceled the born this way tour in the United States. Which I invested over 1k into

You're acting like you expect Gaga to debut at #1 and anything else is a "flop". Of course I'd see your negativity as something destructive instead of constructive. Look at Economy's recent post about PI gaining radio spins not counting the add/impact effect. It's been out less than 2 weeks and is already streamed 16m times in Spotify whereas Rise is at 23m despite being released more than 2 months now. Publications have praised her and critical reception is generally positive.

I, too, want Gaga to perform better because I know she deserves success, but downplaying each and every effort really isn't helping

So true. It was the perfect opportunity for her tbh. She had barely any competition. Even her haters were ready to be slayed because 2016 was so dry.  Then she released PI :diane:

She doesn't need to go #1

But missing the top 10 entirely is unacceptable

And it's falling on Spotify everywhere so whatever
