I disagree strongly with this :oprah:

I saw a user post something similar a few days ago. Something like "we're the customers, she needs to satisfy us". I don't agree with that at all. She's an artist. She evolves. Her music isn't just some product on a shelf, it's an expression of something about her. There's a little bit of her in each song, ya know? If you don't like it, you're free to take your business elsewhere but don't ever feel like it's her job to please you or anyone else but herself.

That got less directed at you and more generally speaking towards the end btw

I understand what you mean, but if it wasn't for us and the public, she wouldn't be releasing music. I shouldn't have used the term 'job'. I don't think we are customers and that she has to do things for us. But when she creates music, it is for her, but it is also for us, too.

While I don't think she needs to satisfy us, her music is for her fans and we pay her to see her perform songs we love and we expect entertainment. What she wants to express with the music is just a part of her artistic vision.

I've just always hated this way of thinking. It's a slippery slope to fans acting like they own an artist and I just can't imagine Gaga living through some of the nonsense she's been through just to be undone by fans that see her (and her music) as a product or a label.

What I miss I'd her performing. I haven't seen her do anything but some weird Britney-but-live shtick since the middle of tfm era.

Down with choreography.

When she hits the stage on large scale shows again, that's when the real excitement will come for me.

PI is like a toe dip into the new era.

Gaga should change her commercial name Lady Gaga into something like Lady Cool whatever etc. She's not that Gaga anymore. :nails:

This. It's been just over a week since she started the era. The amount of meltdowns I'm seeing from the fanbase is unwarranted imo. Wait to see how PI does, wait to see what you think of JOANNE. Then you can decide if this era isn't for you and you need to take a break from her

Yes when the album comes out it will be great. But as you said, 'then you can decide if this era isn't for you and you need to take a break from her', its been 3 years, that's a long break from her and will probably be another 2 years after JOANNE. It probably sounds selfish and that isn't what I mean at all, I am just saying I miss the old eras, this has nothing to do with 'gaga needs to change back to her old self' 'she needs more songs like born this way' I just wanted to ask people if they felt the same and miss the old eras.

I completely agree with you.

Of course her fans made her successful but that doesn't mean she should pander to us. She makes work we like, we buy it. That's the exchange... I don't think there's an obligation either way. We don't have to buy into something that we aren't into, and she doesn't have to make anything for us.

I really don't want to be negative about her willingness to change in every aspect of her life. She's adapting as a performer and no longer feels the need to create shocking performance art, whether that's her actual performances or her outfits or the controversial things she does. And that's fine.

But at the same time, I can't help but feel a bit underwhelmed by the 'normal Gaga'. This era just doesn't excite me so far. I want to love it, but I just... don't. And that deeply saddens me. I'm not being a hater, because I'm still keeping an open mind for the album. I just can't hide the fact this Joanne era is really boring so far. Hearing her say Joanne is "just a bunch of songs about my life" feels very wrong. Where is the passion, where's the creativity? It's upsetting, I'm not going to lie.

I think the passion is there since the songs are all "autobiographical." It's just that the aesthetic of this era is going to be SO toned down. I feel as if it'll be like an Adele era...

Exactly  besides, pleasing everyone is literally impossible. I'd rather her make music she's confident in, regardless of the genre/context/message/etc, than her wracking her brain and having breakdowns trying to please all of her fans. She's not an assembly line worker and music isn't an average "product" like some toy that you can request in different colors or something

Though I think this is getting a bit off topic since OP has made it clear that they wouldn't want Gaga to change a thing just for their sake. I was just picking on one part of their post is all

the problem is that gaga grew up, between 27-30 you are changing, you feel more mature, you have more responsibilities in your life and you were burn a lot and learned from this.. so this is what happening to Gaga and it's effecting her music and here comes the clash with the young fans (12-21).. they are still kids in their minds and they want the old fun omg gaga back..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Thomas P

I love this era. The other eras were perfect for me, because they matched me in my life.

The Fame- I was 8, and just getting into music, and holy **** was Gaga the right artist to start with.

The Fame Monster- Exactly like the Fame, but to a level that surpassed any level of musical brilliance at that point. As a 9 year old, it was a lot to handle.

Born This Way- I was 10, and staring to question my sexuality. With Gaga being ridicualously overexposed, and over the top with her pro gay stance, it helped.

ARTPOP- I was a hot mess, and so was the era. At 12, I had no idea it was flopping, so there wasn't much to cloud my judgement.

Joanne- I'm 15, I'm happy, I'm out of the closet, and I'm just finally at peace with myself. I've started looking back at my life, and so has Gaga.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

I really hope she stops with all the plastic surgery before she starts looking like the tiger man/woman. She's too young and beautiful to be doing this. Her mouth looks so stiff during her interview with Elvis Duran. Hopefully it's just some Botox injections and not fillers. Maybe that's why she's doing radio interviews only right now.

:oprah: She has not had plastic surgery.

we are in the same boat, my only problem is after tfm i wasn't a 'stan' and i wasn't following everything gaga did and watched everything she was doing until she began artRave. My point is i missed the btw era and the ARTPOP era (kinda) and i want those times back to complete the empty hole in my life. ARTPOP will forever be my favourite as it healed me but i also still listen to it now and i'm still as addicted to it as much as i was back then. <3

This. A few pot induced lip injections doesn't count as plastic surgery.
