ReidOne 12,427
Since it's confirmed that PI video is Gaga giving a performance, what "performance" music videos are your favorites? (Please note, I'm asking about videos where a performance is the primary music video, not your favorite live performances in general) A few of mine are below... one thing that really excites me about this video concept is that it was a staple of early MTV. Gaga is really going to take us back to basics with this and I'm here for it!!

Edonis 28,950
You know, Just Dance was a performance oriented music video too 👀 Don't forget that 👀
JDi 1,495
I think that the PI video is likely a nod to Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit/In Bloom videos which are about the dissonance between the performer's passion and the audience's affection. the album title Nevermind and the infamous MTV Unplugged cover of David Bowie's The Man Who Sold the World also aim to express Cobain's struggle performing and truly connecting with his fans to whose wrong idea about what he stands for he had live up to which is the supposed reason he became depressed and suicidal once they made it big... need I point out the similarities? basically, Gaga's way of declaring her independence from the public's perception. Did you change your mind about the video? Thank you!! The video was actually more than I expected... much more than a simple performance video! Not sure yet if it's as classic as some of these (Dirty Diana, Black Cat in particular). I also suspected it would hold a lot of similarities to 2Pac and Dre's "California Love" and indeed, it did!
